dryverman & snaprollinsb,

I'm in such a good mood just to be alive and living in FL, I'll call both of you winners!

Fan fare, drum roll all that not needed and unappreciated stuff!

Hey!. Don't beat me up to badly. What can I do for you?

Charles

Flew my 1/4 scale Cub today for the first time!  I have flown a full scale J-3 on floats before.. and it flew JUST like it!

Weight is 22 pounds with the G20ei!  Flew great and tracked wonderfully with no trim needed!

I did add Great Stuff expandable foam inside of the middle two quarters of the floats, and it seems to have made the floats VERY solid!

Thanks!

We actually got 4.5 inches of snow dumped on us today here in Birmingham, Alabama!

Should be going up into the 40's tomorrow, and sunshine.. I'm gonna try to brave the cold and fly again!

Brrrrr....!

Hello Snaprollinsb .Nice looking Cub you have there.I am glad to see there is a thread with other people that enjoy float flying.I go to several events each year and ,I would sooner fly off the water than at the strip.I am currently building a 1/4 scale cub and will definitely be putting floats on her! Here is a picture of my 8 foot Beaver ,she flies like a dream.I have a 120 Saito in her and its got all the power I need and then some.

Here are a few pictures of my brand new CMPro Cessna 182 (50) on floats.
I'm only got 10 flights on it yet and I just love it.
It is fitted with an old OS61SF (2-stroke) Engine, "Pitts" Muffler, Dave Brown "Ultimate" Spinner and Aviomodelli (ABS) Floats.

Zero,
Great pics. I bought 2 of those kits a while back with the intentions of doing exactly that. What type of floats and mounting hardware did you use?

There is a thread somewhere on RCU where the intent is for the photographer to make the plane look real in its setting. The trick is to get the perspective right. You need to post the photo of the plane pulled up to the shore.

Hello Flyin Beagle

... and thanks for comments. I'll have to find that thread you mentioned earlier
The floats' manufacturer is Aviomodelli (Italy) and they are made of ABS plastic.
And the mounting hardware is home made (3x18mm aluminum).
The CMPro Cessna is sure a great looking and flying float plane.

Meschmidt, that looks like it was taken at the RCRC float fly in San Antonio last April when they had all the rain. I remember talking with you there about your Skybolt. Nice setup. I am from Victoria and I had the white Seamaster 40. I really enjoy flying there and I plan to attend next month for their fall float fly. Are you planning to attend? I look forward to all the good flying and bs that goes along with it. Hope to see you there.

I built this Sea Cat a 50's free Flight design for a pal of mine. He flew it a coupe off runway, never off water. He has since passed away and I have it hanging in my shop.It might not fit in the site.

Thanks Skydanz, I plan to keep it. A club 23 miles from my house has just opened a new flying site that has a small lake on site. The plane is powered with an OS.26 FS and Airtronic radio gear.
