So far so good, I have to flush the water cooling pipes, make sure I wash all the ali parts and spray with WD-40. I also remove the flex drive and re-grease after every run in salt. It's great having the shockwave running along side the rib at 20mph Its so stable and kicks up a spray like you wouldn't believe. I want to try it on the lake but I'm scared of having to go swimming if it bombs out. And its too damn noisy.

WD40 is a good idea!

The swimming issue is solved by a fishing pole with a tennis ball on the end. That will rescue a righted boat, as long as you can cast as far as the boat is away. If it's "point up" in the water, a $10 vinyl raft works great for rescuing it.

I had a SW 36, what a great boat! Here are my findings as I got top peak performance out of my boat like you would not beleive, all on Blue thunder 20% fuel.

Best flex cable - just run a stock pro boat or a hughes cable, bulletproof!

Put 2 oz. of lead under the gas tank, then put pool noodles in the hull and zip tie 4oz on each noodle and nest pinewood derby car strip weights in the hollow of the noodle, this weight will stop the chine walking.

Make sure you clean ALL spilled fuel in the hull as the nitro will eat and weaken the hull

Sharpen the turn fin to a razor sharp edge

The trim tabs can be left alone, maybe a bit downward by 1/16" no more.

Prop - forget the proboat plastic, they will disentigrate nicely, run a sharpened and balanced octura X645, I tried over 20 props and this one works perfect

Use a starting belt, the tiger drives are flimsy and if you loose the drive you are done for the day

Put a ball stud on the deck just at the nose then if you have to cast for your boat the line will not slip off the front of the boat. I use a retreival boat to rescue my dead boats.

Make sure you have enough pool noodle or floatation in your boat, if it starts to sink and you only have a white water tepee sticking out, forget rescueing it, you will have to swim for it, foam is cheap compared to a sunk boat!

Set up right I got over 42 mph out of my boat, it hauled the mail hard and fast.

If any of you guys need a prop I will sell my prop, sharpened and balanced, $40.00 to your door

Yes 8 oz. in the bow in the hollow of each pool noodle, then 2 oz. under the gas tank.

Not sure if i updated all of you known posters here.

..Ended up blowing the motor up actually.
Well, the rear bearing took a poop on me around 3 gallons.
Motor had been ported and polished all its life.

Sorry the page isn't working. Have you thought about using a deflector, aka silencer? It reduces the noise without a large decrease in performance. Found these deflectors for you to look at. Might want to contact the company to make sure it works with your setup. Hope this helps.

Take off the O-Ring on that piece mounted to the transom that the pipe slides through.
Might be able to slide your muffler over the outside of the pipe and into that piece after the O-Ring is gone.

Never tried this muffler thing and i dont own a SW anymore.

Hey I am new to the rc world, and was reading a bunch of posts you guys put out there and was interested in the post about finding a good strong flex cable! I searched that description and came up with nothing but the proboat flex cable! Can anyone give me a link to where i can find another brand? I'd appreciate it!

I have had NO issues with the stock Proboat HD cables. I'm on my 4th gallon of fuel, and only replaced one cable! That one didn't even fail on me... it "looked" like the strands were just starting to separate, so I replaced it. I kept it, because it is still fine, and will work in a pinch.

I would suggest that the problems people have with the cables is NOT the cable itself, but rather the angle of the motor and/or the stuffing tube. Something has to be RUBBING to wear out a drive cable. I bet if you took care to align it properly, the cable "problems" would solve themselves.

i think some people are not using a gap between the drive dog and the strut. that'll snap a cable in seconds.
