The plastic gears will hold up fine for awhile. My brother has been running the stock (xl-1) gears in his MM 5700 with 2s lipo for months with no damage. If anything strips it will be the idler, which is a whopping $3 for a steel replacement. If the diff strips, which might happen after awhile, might not happen at all, a new one with a steel ring gears is $6. For $10 you can upgrade the xl-5 transmission to steel, dont bother buying the VXL and going through the hassle of selling the electronics. Its not worth it.

We were running brushless before the VXL metal transmission hype with no problems.

Yeah plus the xl5 is so cheap it would cost more to get the vxl then it would to upgrade the xl5.

I have the JConcepts rustler vxl body for it. It fits the pede perfectly. They should ahve called it a pede body. Here is the link.

also you are gonna want bearings and rpm bearing carriers. It is just obvious. bushings suck trust me you will be waisting power on the bushings.

Yah thats true, you are gonna need a lot of ru up. Is your house 1 story or 2? Also in your videos it doesent look like you have to much room at all. Maybe if you come dowm where the curve is and put plywood on your lawn up to the jump , that might work but you would probaly lose speed.
