What a fantastic idea...there are many of us on somewhat fixed incomes that cringe when we look at the catalogs....I am looking at getting back into the hobby after being out for over 20 years....does anyone have a copy of one of the flight simulators that they could donate or sell to me at a reasonable price. The prices for the new ones are way too steep for my income...I assure you that I am not an ebay seller and will keep the spirit of this thread going.

FMS is a free D/L http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html

All you need is your transmitter and an interface cable that goes from your buddy box port to a serial or parellel port on the computer.

The cables are available on EBay for about $12 - $15 or you can make your own if you are handy. The FMS site has schematics for various setups.

This is a decent simulator, especially for the money.

Hope this helps.

Well, Only had a few inquiries about the twist, but when I ask for background info on the people, they don't email me back! Makes you wonder if they really need help or just want a free plane huh? Anyways, I've got one interested person close here to michigan/Indiana border, so we'll see how he does.

Thanks Ken for the stickers!!!!
Awesome job, really. I put the instructor sticker on my field box and on the Club trainer, and the Pay it Forward on the field box and my van. I'll be bringing the issue up with my club this week at our meeting, and we'll probablly gather up some stuff to send you guys next week. With all our members, there are a few generous guys, so there might be a truckload, or maybe just an armfull, but we'll have something for you. Anyways, If you have any flyers or adds about it yet, e'mail me some to take with and to post at the local Hobby shops.

Here's a taste of my new Ultra RC yak 54! Its a .40 size YAK!!!

Thanks for the info...the only problem being that FMS will not use my transmitter on my
system because I am using Windows XP as the operating system.....anyway, I will keep
looking.

Thanks again

That is really good to hear. Ken recreated our lub logo and I showed them around and they seemed to be a hit. I have a small but growing list of members who want them and pilot names also.

For those people that donate anything using this thread, PIF supplies you with a set of vinyl stickers that include the PIF logo, a set of Pilot Names and one set of engine stickers.

i don't have anything to give right now.i built a lt60 trainer for my daughter she has learned to fly on it and no crashes YET,when she tires of it i was gonna donate it to someone in our club if they have a need or on here if no one at my club wants it.i will make this offer now until then.if someone has a kit they want to donate i will build it and then offer it here, nothing too big because of shipping problems.i enjoy building as much as flying and have been building for quite a long time.i am disabled and have problems with my knees that restricts me from flying more than i want to so i build a lot.this might sound retarded but it is my offer.i think this pay it forward is a wonderful thing for people wanting to get into this sport i commend everyone here that had anything to do in getting this started...happy flying

Wow folks!

I've been lurking about for quite some time and am amazed at the generosity shown by fellow RC enthusiasts. I'm just getting back into the hobby after a 22 year break. I'm glad to see the same helpful spirit is in the hobby.

Why did the PIF thread lose its sticky status?

About a month ago there was a decision site wise that there were too many sticky threads, and a majority of threads that were sticky were undone. Both Bubbagates and I have asked Marc (RCAdmin) to repost PIF as a sticky. For now he would like to leave it unstuck. A PM to RCAdmin requesting it to be put back on sticky status might help it happen, but I can't make any promises

I still have that Magic-3D airframe available if anyone wants it in the San Diego area- Bubba and I talked about shipping it but it is pretty beat-up, so I am not sure it is worth it---

I will throw a few servos in also, and I think I still have that Fox-50 that runs pretty good.... All in all a good 2nd airplane for someone-

If you know someone who needs or wants it in the SD area lemme know!

Thanks again to Bubba for Paying It Forward so many times over!

James

Why would he not want to sticky this thread. This is probably the best thread in the begginers section.
