Well done. It goes to show you that it's not just airplanes that count here although this thread is in the beginners section of airplanes. The basic idea is to give and that is what you had done.

Everyone can also post what they have done and are doing to help others but let's at least keep this thread going in the intention it was created and that was to offer/ask for items that you have and no longer need or need (not want) an item that you cannot get.

In my opinion, training is as good as anything as well as material items such as engines, props, manuals, mufflers, just to name a few.

Is it possible to get this thread linked, pinned or whatever to the rest of the forums. I was looking through them and noticed no beginners section in all of the others.

RCU rules state that no multiple posts on the same subject are allowed across multiple forums so if I were to do this myself it would probably get kicked back.

I feel that this thread could benefit more than just the guys flying airplanes.

Would everyone agree with this?? Thoughts???

I agree with you 100%. A thread like this could be posted in every beginner forum. Many more enthusiasts may get involved in our wonderful hobby if they could get assistance from others. At our economic level, it can be very hard for someone new to this hobby to get started. Although the costs of entry-level equipment is fairly reasonable, someone financially strapped wouldn't be able to afford this hobby. A helping hand is always welcome for those that are less fortunate. During my 16+ years in the hobby, I have had to take several "breaks" due to finances. Nevertheless, I was always able to rebound and continue. I feel more relaxed being able to spend a few hours fixing/tweaking/upgrading my R/C gear than any other time.

I support this thread in all Beginner forums.

Status: offline 		Thanks for the receiver BigNed. For everyone else's info: I built a spad for the amusement of some college friends with small budgets. Trying to teach them to fly. I've flown it a couple times, but recently the rx went out. Luckily the one BigNed offered matches the one I need. We certainly appretiate it.

Status: offline 		I actually found a few 2 and 3 blade props, both wood and fiberglass in the 10 inch and 11 inch ranges between 5 and 7 pitch. The 2 bladed props are both Zinger and APC and the 3 Bladed props are all Master Air Screw (MAS).

I also have a JR600MaH 4.8V battery, and a Futaba 1000MaH 4.8V battery that has had the plug trimmed down to work with JR. Sorry no chargers, yet.

I also have a SIG Four Star 40 paper manual if someone needs it. I have a Twist manual also but that can be downloaded from the Hangar-9 web site.

I'd like to see one done in the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon cover with the Prism and rainbow, now that would be way too cool. Or even better still the graphic I once saw for their song called "learning to fly"

Status: offline 		Hi outlaw, I guess thats where I am lost.. I dont know what would be good for a 9yr old to start, so I dont know what to start with at all.. Plane and build around that or motor and build around that, etc........I guess If I had a starting point that would be great!!!

Status: offline 		Your Sig 40 trainer would be fine for your 9 year old. If you get a buddy box and an experienced trainer and your son really wants to learn it will be a great plane for him to learn on, probably one of if not THE best.

I have only had that plane for a month and I absolutely love it! It is my new best friend.. Its a Lanier Edge 540T and 3W75 a pure jpy to fly.... The transition into scale aerobatic planes was a little intimidating though, never realized how stall prone they are. They fly WAY better than anything else I have ever flown but you have to know how to treat them, they dont like to have their elevator yanked on like a funfly does. Get on high rates and slam the elevator whole you are in a bank with power off and relatively low speed you are going down if you arent really lucky ..

Status: offline 		Bubba, I mentioned this to the Car Mods, and their reaction was what I expected. I don't mean to sound biased, but the Car Forums have a large percentage of young members who are not exactly what you would call reputable, and we fear that there would be far too many incidences of exactly what we are trying to prevent - which is people who are not in NEED just grabbing Freebies.

But they ARE considering this type of thread anyway.
