Congrats on taking the plunge, TND2000. Could you be more specific about what company you bought the eSky from? Also, did you get the CP Honeybee 2 machine with the 6ch heli tx, or the FP version machine? I assume from the 11V LiPos you got that it's the CP one. Please let us know how it goes, and what problems you might have with the equipment down the road. Sounds like the tail rotor motor may need upgrading first, from all the reports I've heard of it burning up. If the equipment holds up to normal usage I might buy one myself, as 6ch heli txes alone can be close to $200.

Anyway, Good Luck and have fun!

Steve

That was quick.

As of today, I haven't seen my d22 yet. It's been almost a week now. Now I start to worry...

Hi all,

I bought the Esky HB 2 from Hobby Japan and it came with Mode 1 transmitter even thou I asked for mode 2, which means I had to spend a good hour reversing the signal connector and the center return/ detent lock throttle on the left and right sticks. It came with 1800mAh Lithium battery and training gear. I saw the video of this one doing 3D flying outdoor easily! By the way, I used to fly gas helicopters and early electric ones before. The collective pitch has an advantage of having the constant rotor speed, which means you have even and smooth control because the flybar and the paddle which control most of the movement ahve constant speed. Moreover, when you hit the 3D switch on the stock transmitter, you will get a different throttle curve and pitch combination required for 3D flying i.e. at lowest throttle stick position the pitch becomes negative and the power is high (which is used at the top of the loop or whenever the helicopter is up side down and the negative pitch will keep it UP).
Even I am quite confident of my flying skill, I still opt for the training gear attached because ALL rc helicopter has different manner and you need to get used to it. This reminds me of the counter rotation dual rotors RC which I bought earlier, which at first seemed impossible to hover but after about 6-7 trials, it flew but not good for forward flight.
Back to the HB2 which first gave me several problems e.g. after I connected the battery, nothing happened (the led on the controller wouldn't turn green). The manual says, "make sure all the channel set at NORMAL not reverse". I found out later that for it to work the throttle and the rudder must be set in reverse position! Also the tail motor connector has to be connected opposit to what the manual shows i.e. the positive red wire is on the TOP. Finally, I found out that the transmitter crystal was loose!
First 4-5 flight were not what I expected because it was difficult to get it hover and stay still. The drift caused by its own draft inside my living room was too much. I prefer my machine to hover at around half throttle but this one will at almost fully open, so I decided to adjust the linkage to increase the pitch at half throttle but it didn't work because the stock motor doesn't have enough torque to do so. Today I manage to hover within 4'x4' pad and the tracking was perfect but I think the rotor speed was a bit high. I plan to order the semi symmetric blades which will give more lift than the stock fully symmetric ones. So far I had about 10 flights and the tail rotor motor still okay. I ordered the heat sinks for both but not sure if I want to upgrade it to dual motor tail ot use high authority bigger motor. It is very windy outdoor now, but I am sure that the HB2 will do well.
I will set this one up for a friend, so I ordered the T-Rex 450 brushless from Hong Kong (complete except the transmitter for $385.84 shipped from http://www.flying-hobby.com/payment3.asp).

I think this is the best buy for CP RC helicopter around. I was so impressed that out of the box it is in balance and the blades track perfect. The design is simple and effective with many carbon fiber parts. Make sure you get mode 2 or else switching be a task you don't want to tackle.

Firat limk has many video clips but the second one contains the link to the 3D Esky. The download will take sometime but if you want I can email you the clip that I already saved.

I ordered a esky HB 2ccpm from ebay also from china.(r-c-helicopter)they say located in u.s. also but everything came from china 5 days.Have never flown rc heli but thought how hard could it be,I flew the real thing in coast guard.Right!!!!!After several hops & lots of trimming I managed to hover which progressed guickly into my first forward fight !(It just happened no skill was involved)My flight was cut short (and my rotor blades) when a pole jumped in the way. When you need parts go stateside, the china parts are cheaper but shipping for even small parts (like rotor blades) will kill u. I ordered blades from rcworldinternational n.y. IN about a dozen flights(hops)and several tip overs,no tail motor problems other hard to trimout torquespin.Pretty tough bird.

Guys Esky has come out with the Honey Bee Cool. This comes with direct drive tail rotor and the tail rotor has pitch control. It also has an autorotation clutch and the option of brushless motor. It's also just a few bucks more than the CP2 which I've been flying. The Cp2 is definitely not 100% when it arrives but after a few tweeks I think it's a great low cost bird to learn on. I'm in South Africa and in the process of getting the Cool to practice my autos. Check out

I'm getting this one too after looking at this and other boards i decided that a cp was the way to go. Yes I to do not think they are great home indoor birds they just have way to much fun built into them for that. But indoors for learning to hover which is the very first step they are great. When your ready to move on or up so to speak then here at least there are lost of great days even in winter to go out side and have some more fun.
that being said like all hobbys this is one that once you start will want to upgrade. and from what I can see for now there is not too much I have seen.
The reason for the quote I too worry about the tail motor. and on the next bird I would like it to be more like the cool.
but for learning the cp2 will do well.
Just getting started and looking forward. Oh h##l i starts already.

Must use heat sinks on the main and tail motors on the CP2. I've never had problems with motors burning out since. Yes the Bee is a whole lot of fun and fantastic for learning. It's very sensitive and has no tail lock so you know you gonna be a great pilot. Also because of it's size and weight it can take a beating without much damage. The only thing I've been breaking was the main blades, till I changed to carbon. I think the cool is gonna be even better. Did you check out the video on the Esky site?

Got my two birds today HB CP2 plus a whole bunch of other stuff including a flight sim with a 4 ch box that hooks up to my serial port and a cable for my 6 ch TX haven't hooked that up yet.
Took awhile but I got every thing mapped now.
about 4 hrs i can hover the sim up and down keep it stable for awhile. I know when the time comes the real thing will be different.
My son is doing 3D stuff with it already. it easy to be bold on the sim
We will take our time on the birds and use the sim for basic famil for the controls. but it looks like this is gonna be more fun then i thought.
more money tooooooo.
