Status: offline 		No where on the Radical website can I find the chargers listed. If he has the Sirius LE for $115 that seems like an awfully good price. Status: offline 		The Ace is Not the same...I will give the address but, I think you can find it cheaper...I have seem the pro for as little as $109.00
in RCM advertisement. Check all the suppliers in the model books.

Status: offline 		I don't want to take a charger to the field. Why would I do that? My packs are ready to go when I leave and they are of sufficient capacity that they don't need to be recharged in the middle of the flying session. The sirius chargers DO NOT cycle packs, they only "condition"....big difference. Square...have another scotch and take some deep breaths.

I looked at the supernova. I have read much that confirms its a fine charger but it only does 1 pack at a time. It would probably be great for motor packs but I don't fly electric (yet).

Send Dave an email about the Sirius chargers. They are not listed but he told me he had them.

Status: offline 		I did not get the name of the person I spoke to at Sirius but my impression was he was the top dog. He also tried to push their new semi custom made charger at $350 a pop. What does Sirius know about battery care that others don't know?

Status: offline 		Sirius doesn't know anything that others don't. Its not magic, just basic science. They make good chargers, for certain applications, that are very easy to use. I am interested in that new one you mentioned though. Gotta check out new stuff!

Sirius Pro Series:

2 port charger only
550 mah only charge rate
Charges to 80% capacity then trickle.
Limited capacity of 8 cell 1000 mah and 6 cell 2000 mah
Plug & play, virtually nothing to set.

Super Nova 250S

1 port charger and cycler
.10 mah to 5 amp charge rate
Charges to 100% capacity
Peak detects nimh
Charges any size battery up to 25 cells
Full information detailed about capacity charged/discharged, time, ect...
Charges led acid batteries

Status: offline 		I actually have both of these chargers. I bought the Sirius Charge Pro first and used it for two years without a single problem. I was also charging from the adapter and giving a full C10 charge on all my packs. The Sirius is an excellent charger, but I wanted something that would cycle them. That's why I bought the SuperNova. I cycle the batteries at home with the SN and I take the Sirius to the field.

The other big reason I got the SuperNova was to start keeping track of the charge times and voltages for all my packs. It's kinda hard to do that with the Sirius charger. I will give Sirius a big atta-boy for keeping it simple.

I like both, but for different reasons.

It just like the serrius its got 4 lites an one 3 postion switch an does zackly the same thing as you seerius. An is bout $35 cheeper. so there .

Oh, and by the way, Captain Corn is right, the Ace Super Smart does exactly the same thing for less money. Looks like you got some homework to do. The farmer knows more than you do .

Status: offline 		I have to agree, Ace is crap. No offense to anyone. I had their Digipace II. The unit was off by 10% on the charge rates and the voltage cut off after cycle was way off too. The cut of voltage was adjustable by a pot inside the unit. The charge rate was not.

I contacted Ace and told them the problem. They said that was normal and that their tolerance was 10%. 10% tolerance on electronics! That is outrageous. Tolerances on electronics is usually less than 1% accuracy.

Once I new the real #'s, I was able to make my own calculations.
Peak Electronics makes some nice units, but I think they missed the mark too. The Limited is a great unit, but is limited to 6 cells. Can't do my tx packs.

The perfect charger would be the Super Nova 250S with 2 fully independant ports. Unless you're charging electric plane batteries, we do not need 5 amp charge rate as well as the ability to charge 25 cells. Or the Alpha 4 with a 2 amp charge rate per port. Either way, neither unit exists or is cost effective to have in 1 unit.

I personally use 3 chargers. An Alpha 4, a Super Nova 250S, and a Hobbico Multi-port charger. The Multi-port charger is used to keep batteries on trickle. I just set the charge rate as close as possible to the trickle rate for the particular battery.

The smallest battery I use is an 1100 4 cell nicad while the largest is a 5 cell 2700 Nimh.
