So, I've taken the advice given here on this forum and got myself a 90 sized Zimmerman muffler for the OS70 I have in my Freya. It is a two piece design where the manifold stub pushes into the muffler body with three 'O' rings.

I have not used this type of design before and have a couple of questions I was hopeing someone could answer:

1. Do I need to lube the 'O' rings first

2. Do I need to rig some kind of support at the muffler outlet to stop it spinning around the manifold joint? It did not come with any kind of support.

Once again, thanks for your help.

Gary

1.A - There is no need to lube the O ring but it would'nt hurt it to help installing it on the manifold.

2.A- Yes it needs to be supported.

You'll find it significantly easier to get it on
the header/manifold if you do lube it first, even
just some fuel or synth oil.

Yes, it needs to be supported. Which clamp
to use depends on the muffler's diameter.

Gary

you must use a clamp, any 40mm clamp for supporting the muffler to the frames, also, try to mount it"soft" not too hard, to elliminate vibrations from the motor.
if you need any support or help with Zimmermann, please feel free to mail.
we are official Zimmermann traDE PARTNERS.

Guys,

Thanks for all the advice. Got myself a 40mm clamp and rigged up a stand off from some carbon tube and I have to say it looks the part.

Test flew the Freya this weekend and I could not believe it, the OS70/Zimmerman combination was great, the engine just purred like a happy cat. It is so quiet that at one point during a fast descent I thought the engine had stopped! Power output seemed very good with the engine easliy handling 9.5 degrees even though very rich - can't wait to lean it out!

Once again, thanks

Gary
