I didn't see were Losi admitted to this issue. Is there any more info in regards to this from them. For instance any idea if this issue limits the life of the engine?

Well Losi isn't just gonna come out and say "Oops, we f****d up". However anyone who has emailed (or called) them about info on the washer has been told to remove it, or at least that it's ok to do so, and several of those emails have been posted on this board. They've also replaced (or repaired) any engine that has seen damage because of the washer, and finally, they've stopped including the washer in engines #11000 (approx) and up.

Professionally, that's about all they can do in admittance of the problem, while trying to keep their image.

Thanks Taildragger... What I am trying to ask is... Picture the switch with three wires. The wire on the right side plugs into the plug marked Batt on receiver (power) Then out of the left side of the switch there are two wires..one of the two has a black Futaba J male plug...The other has a black Futaba J female plug.. My new piggyback battery pack has a power lead with a black male Futaba J male plug. I assume I can use the Female Futaba j for the power to the plug and not use the leftover wire. The reason I got the three wire on/off switch was because I wanted a battery pack instead of the 4 AA Batts in the pack under the fuel tank. The original 5 cell batt pack did not have a charging lead and had to be charged with the third wire from the switch with a special adapter wire to the charger. Anyway does it make any difference which wire on the left side of the switch I use to bring power to the switch?

Hi all,
Just thought I’d add my contradictory experience!!
Recently received a new mail ordered (in the UK) LST, serial number LST009487 (old stock?), and intrigued by this post, I’ve just stripped my engine (brand new kit, never run), and NO washer. I expect either the UK distributor, or my shop removed it.

I've heard that Helgar (UK distributor) started removing the washer before Losi started doing it. Losi started somewhere around 11000's, while Helgar started somewhere in the 9000's. Or at least that's what I've heard.

My LST #11179 had the washer installed, I just took it out.
My friends car #10... had the washer and he had ran 8 tanks of fuel and i opened the Mach .26 up to take out the washer, and it wasnt there, but... there were scores and marks all over the internal engine, so it must have gone into the engine, it is still running fine though.

My LST is over # 12000 and will check as soon as it gets back from the hobby shop for warranty work on the electronics, right out of the box the starter didn't work and it has a heck of a glitch, I can't wait to drive it.

My LST, #660, came with the washer of course. I popped open the crankcase yesterday to ensure it was still in good form to find it lying at the bottom of the case. Well, at least a good portion of what was left of it was lying in there. Bits of metal and dust were everywhere but the combustion chamber it seems. Luckily I caught this problem just before it surfaced into a much larger issue.

Of course Dynamite will be contacted about this.

Finally got my LST today, the dreaded washer has been removed.. serial #7832...
I ordered my LST from my local Horizon Hobby distributor on 3/18/05, at that time the Horizon website and the stores computer showed it as in stock.. On the following Monday (3/21/05) the website now shows it as "out of stock", and the hobby store confirmed it for me.. Well today (3/29/05) my hobby store calls me to let me know my LST is in.. ye ha.. I arrive at the store to find the seals on the box opened and the serial number being #7832, not 13,000 plus with washer removed at the factory... Ohhh boy.. so apart comes the motor, not a drop of fuel thru it, and out with the dreaded washer..
And to add insult to injury I ordered the dynamite ni-mh pack listed on horizons website for the LST and it has a 3 wire plug that won't "directly" plug into the switch harness without modifications... Man I love a challenge, but please let me mess it up first, not right out of da box.. lol.. oh well, same holds true for many hobbies, etc. I'm sure.
Hope to get a tank or 2 thru it tomorrow.. Weather permitting that is..

Replace the switch with an airplane switch and it will directly connect to your new battery. Congrats on the truck. You'll love it.

Just checked my truck tonight, seriel # 12658 and no washer any were. on the 4th tank of fuel and this truck rocks. I have owned just about all the major nitro trucks out there and none of them compare to this one. If you don't have one, get one
