shockwave -> What an incredible example of craftsmanship (3/16/2003 12:54 PM)

Hello,

I must commend you on your incredible attention to detail of your SU-27 project; this is one of the best examples of craftsmanship I have ever seen; In my humble opinion the SU-27 /35 has to be one of the most desirable aircraft. My personal preference is the twin seat variant: I love the graceful line that extends from the front of the canopy all the way back to the tail. What are your plans for the project; in short are you planning on kitting the SU??

Thank you for your time.

hi david,
thanks a lot...and also your wife...she must be a real expert in good looking jets......
exactly that fuselage line from the end of the canopy to the tail, is what i love so much....

at the moment i don't know if i will kit the plane for my own, ore work together with a high quality company...we'll see

P-51B -> big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (3/17/2003 12:05 AM)

Hey Harald!

I hadn't looked in on the project in a while, it is more amazing than ever. The rivet and panel detail looks great.

Hurry up and move back to the Bavaria region so you can dedicate the proper time to the jet!

harald huf -> big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (3/22/2003 12:13 AM)

hi p51-d,
yes we'll hurry up now, we're moving next week and so i will try to start working at the projec soon!
I'll let you know and upload new pics - next step is the underside fuselage.

R/C.... -> big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (5/12/2003 4:04 PM)

sweeeeeeetttttt....what are you using as reference for that detail on the panels...you don't own a 1:1 scale do you ?! :D ;)....

BTW....hope you have a large enough door....would be a pity to have to knock down a wall to get it out of there...:D :p

harald huf -> big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (5/13/2003 2:17 AM)

hi r/c....
no sorry, i don't own a 1:1 scale....and no way to get one cheap...
but i got it out of my workshop and moved it with me back to bavaria.

F86_SABRE -> SU construction (5/14/2003 1:36 AM)

Hi Harald,

Can you please tell me how you managed to bend the litho aluminum in certain parts...like the engine fairing, round tight edges....do you heat the litho up before bending? What litho aluminum thickness did you use to cover the plane? How is the litho stuck to the fuselage...by cyano or epoxy?

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.....nice plane and lots of work!

Regards

Reuben

Why Litho plates, when you can use this material.

Flite Metal

harald huf -> big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (5/14/2003 1:49 AM)

hi reuben,
i use litho aluminium 1/10mm to 2/10 mm.
i didn't heat the aluminium, the parts like the engine fairings are streched with many many knocks with a rounded hammer!
you can heat the aluminium, but you have to be very carefull and the aluminium is very soft and demagable after heating it.
to clue the covers to the fuselage you need olny a contact-glue.
in germany we have PATTEX don`t know if you have the same trademarks...
hope this helps
regards,
harald

F86_SABRE -> SU Constr. (5/14/2003 1:54 AM)

Hi Roger,

Good question! Well I have both and I might be using the stuff for the inlet lip of the Mig-15 I am trying to mold. Well I guess litho aluminum does not stick so hard to the surface and so you will get the aluminum effect of the real plane. Moreover, I think litho aluminum can take the stamping of the simulated rivetting better.
I guess that is my interpretation...I might be wrong since I havent used any of those yet but then that is why i am asking to decide on which best route to take.
Thanks for the interest.

Regards

Reuben

Reuben,
You might be right, but when I was at the Toledo convention in April, I saw first hand a few models that used the Flight metal and I was impressed to say the least.

I plan on using it for my next winter project which will be the AT6 by Ziroli.

F86_SABRE -> Su Construction (5/14/2003 2:08 AM)

Roger,
I dont doubt the quality of the product or its effect. I just do not know if it will have the same effect as litho aluminum for molding purposes. That is my concern. Otherwise it should be a great product for the use you are intending it to be utilised on.

AT-6 plane is nice and should make it look wonderful.

Keep us posted on that project

Thanks again

Reuben
