Hi Harald!

I wish you a happy new year, and good luck with your amazing Flanker. It's a beauty!!!

I hope we meet us on some of the jet-meetings next year.

Greetings,

David Büsken

Terry Holston -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/2/2004 12:51 AM)

I would love to see your updates, but now it seems I have to log on to your site with a password. [:(]

Never had to do that before????? Besides I don't read German so I am not sure how to go about getting to the pictures.[:(][:(]
Can you just post a link to the updated pages?[:D]

HORNETONE -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/2/2004 7:59 AM)

If anyone having trouble with German language, try to use this translating site .I'd found it very interesting when reading Harald's works .

hi terry,
you don't need any password. just clic here: www.su27projekt.de
this ist the starting site. then you can clic to the update button to get to the newest pics.
"inhaltsverzeichnis" means index in english, there you will find all pics from the beginning.

Terry Holston -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/2/2004 3:31 PM)

HI Harald,
Just a couple of questions. Why do you have blue and black epoxy (both) in the surface of your molds?

Do you purchase the alignment pins and recepticals, or do you make them yourself? If purchased, where do you get them?

Thanks,

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/2/2004 3:42 PM)

hi terry, the blue epoxy is filled with metal, so it's harder but you can not polish it. and you have to work very fast cause of it's short hardening time. so i use first the blue stuff - especially for the edges and the complicated details. while the blue epoxy is starting to hardening i put the normal black epoxy behind.

i have no time to make the mould-fixing stuff for my own, you can buy it in some different designs, here in germany. i bought them at r & g.

regards harald huf

Terry Holston -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/2/2004 5:07 PM)

Ah ha, all will be explained, Grasshopper! I see, now. Here I use an Aluminum filled epoxy surface coat for the same purpose.
When you make a fuselage out of your new mold, do you trim the edges then assemble the mold halves? How do you know where to trim on the bottom half, where it overlaps the top?
Just curious.

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/3/2004 8:21 PM)

hi terry,
first i brush in the top coat. along this outline i bring in a fibreglass tape and then i let the glass end on that fibreglass tape.
after closing the mould, i fill the edge with thickened epoxy and a fibreglass tape rounded in the edge.

regards harald

I must be dense, I don't understand: " i fill the edge with thickened epoxy and a fibreglass tape rounded in the edge."

Do you have a picture? Worth a thousand words, you know.[:D]

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/5/2004 12:29 PM)

hi terry, i will show these details at my page.
first i have to "clean" the moulds and then i will start to make the first plane.

harald

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/13/2004 5:17 PM)

[:D]all moulds are done now! www.su27projekt.de
it was a big moment to open the fuselage moulds.

Mike James -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/13/2004 11:53 PM)

Great results, Harald! Congratulations.

All of us are looking forward to the first assembled model flying. Thank you for sharing all the great photos with us.

Eddie Lozano -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/14/2004 1:31 AM)

Hi Herald, I admired your work. You must be very happy when you opened up the fuse. All i can say is WOWWWWWWWW. What kind of mold release did you use. For I too do all my tooling work. I have followed all your project from day ONE. I i ahve learned alot. I liked the way you fenced the two halves and where do you get the alignment pin, did you machined them or they are available on the market. I idolized your work my friend. Here's a picture of my own designed.

BRG,
Eddie Lozano

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (1/16/2004 12:19 PM)

hi mike, thank you and you're welcome.

eddie: thanks, the mold release is metal filled stuff (the blue one), the alignment pins are available here in some different kinds, so i dont't machine them for my own.

BRG harald

bela -> RE: RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (3/11/2004 3:27 AM)

Hey Harold, any updates on if you will kit the flanker or no?
also, im wondering if you would know where to get the full range of polygon drawings for the flanker?

Hårek -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (3/11/2004 11:22 PM)

My hat is off forever for you....
I have folloved your progress for some time, and your project beats it all ! ! !
Load it up whith two 70/16, and it will fly.[:@]
As allways in aeromodelling, the bigger, the better....

Check: http://propro.ru/flankers

$150 USD for all models of the Flanker from T-10 through Su-37

Tell Vladimir that Dan Savage sent you. :D

bela -> RE: RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (3/12/2004 1:19 AM)

Thanx Dan,

But it looks like the site offers 3d models and not the linre drawings i was needing. some of those drawings are on the airwar.ru and aviacheteg.narod.ru sites. i think most of the drawings for the fulcrum are there but only 3 or 4 for the flanker.
some of the polygon drawings show alot of detail.

Aha, now I understand what you're looking for. You want cross-sections of the Flanker.

I don't think anyone has these. Or, at least I haven't heard of any sources for this information and I've been into Flankers for a long time.

Dan

harald huf -> RE: RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (3/12/2004 2:03 PM)

hi, is just made a new update, there are some detail pics of the moulds and some about making the formers.
also new: at the starting page you will find a "videoclip" - button.
there are some videos about making the fuselage mould step by step.

@bela, no sorry, i don't know where to get a complete polygon set of plans.
