Now I understand. Polygon is the name of the book publisher, not 3D models (polygons)

Thanks for the clarification,

Dan

Hi Harald.
Have you concidered to make models for sale?
Your moulds will take 2000 copies before they`re tired.. (retired)
I`m just courious, because there is not as far as I concern, anything on this planet like this..
Of course, we have big jets, fighters and airliners, but a mean russian twin in this accuracy...? Nope, mate..
You might see that it was worth it in many ways, if you did release it sometime.

This cind of work have never been done before, and you know it! The rest of us do.
Letting the whole world follow your work as it proceeds, have been interesting to thousands of admirers.
It also rizes the ceiling for a copy, but expiriend jet modellers who have been around for a while, and who have tried the most, have a dream inside to make the ultimate model of their lifetime.
This is where you come in..

Many jet-modellers have hidden capabilities when it comes to building. It`s a combination of basic rules and fantacy. And this in it self, is a gift. Not too may have tried to match this. None have succeeded.
I always say, that the way will be as I go, but I keep it to my level.

My point is, what you have done here, is beyond houndreds of pilots capabilities to do this ( who probably never have tested their ability to make anything theirselves ), they are willing to pay the prize to have ONE single copy.

So, do you feel for the idea, Harald?
But in the other way around.. If you keep this piece for your self, you will be understood ! !
Anyway, all the best for you at the maiden flight! ( It`s you I hope, not a friend?) Just kidding..
Some want to save for their pension, others....

All the best, Harald!

Gudmund

Thanx Dan, I could see where the "polygon" thing threw you off. but thanx for the assistance. Reuben, is that address a book store in Poland?
And Harold, that gorgeous jet of yours....alot of work, it looks like you have lost weight since the beginning of the project. DONT forget your meals Buddy!

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (4/16/2004 12:58 PM)

hi all, i just did a really big update.
i started to built the first prototype.

@goodman:
thanks for your kind words. well, i am still thinking about to kit the plane sometime. but first off all it has to get ready to fly, and then we will see.
i started this project just for my own, so i have no pressure behind. and this is the reason why i never was talking about to sell anything.
there is enough interest for this plane, of corse. but if i had promised anybody something...then i must go on, and this is the end of hobby-building.

i'm contended with the progress of my su27, and i will bring it to the end...but step by step with no big haste.

so please check the new update on www.su27projekt.de

best regards

Hi Harald.

What you are doing here is the high end...
Doing this amount of work, is understood by modellers only!
I guess you have choosed the right wife too[:D]
I`m looking forward for your next update, Harald!
Awasome work, just awasome...[:-]

As always Herald...FANFREEKINGTASTIC!!!!

rpmtech -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (4/29/2004 8:14 PM)

Hi Harald, I looked through your entire progress of this plane, it is outstanding!!! Very inspirational work. I get more patience just looking at it. Are you planning on producing these?

Once again excellent work and a great documentation of your progress to match.

mr_matt -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (4/29/2004 9:58 PM)

Hi Harald,

Very nice work.

Can you explain more how you do the part layup?

Here is what I think:

1.) Mold release
2.) white epoxy surface coat
3.) Cloth elements (glass/carbon, etc)

Now is where I am confused. Do you put in the foam sandwhich core now, with the outer cloth/surface coat still wet? THen the inner layers and vacuum bag?

Or do you vacuum bag the outer layer first and apply the foam sandwich material and inner layer in a seperate vacuum bagging session?

Thanks very much, and say hi to Turbo Didi for me!

Hårek -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (4/29/2004 11:38 PM)

Hi Harald.

It must be funny, knowing there is only one person yet, on our planet to do this amount of work in a single model airplane........

I`m sure your task growed as the project proseeded!
As I said before: Some save for their pension, others....

harald huf -> RE: big SU 27 Flanker Project in Germany (5/4/2004 12:28 PM)

@mr.matt:
hi matt, i used fluid wax for mould release (2-3times) then i brush in pva(its also a release stuff). after that i brush in the gelcoat. (it is polyester white gelcoat with a little bit of black polyester colour-stuff). next day the first glass layer, the second layer. after that i put in the outer carbon . after that the sandwich foam and then the inner glass-layertogther with the inner carbon. (all wet in wet) then the mould comes into the vacuum bag.
i use a punched foil, then an old sheet and the vacuum bag.
the first prototype is very strong built, i could built it much lighter, but why??
the first one will be a heavy beast and then after testflying i will decide to make a lighter one.
i have much more then ennough turbine-power, so i guess a heavy one will fly much more jetlike......

@rpmtech:
not at the moment, first of all everything has to get ready and tested

@goodman/sd crashmaster
thanks!!

best regards harald huf

Hi Harald,

It's looking really good. Won't be long now. Which Russian Test Pilot paint scheme are you going to do, 595 or 598?

Daren
