There is a certain feeling of pride and accomplishment that only comes from seeing a truly scratch built model successfully take off for the very first time knowing that YOU built it. It's an absolutely wonderful feeling.

Does any of you have scanned the plans, formes or ribs of the plane. Because I'm going to rebuild mine but I only found the fuselage plan.

Any replacement part or a set of plans for that matter can be had directly from Carl Goldberg Models, just check their web site for details.

The cost of the canopy is $9.95 and each plan sheet is approx. $ 10.00, and I don't think that the shipping is free. You may contact them at their web site for more information.

By the way the prices from Goldberg has gone way up on canopy, etc. Probably the result of selling out to Hobbico. I have just mounted a ccpr .26 in my Extra which was a rebuild of a friends crashed plane. Waiting for warm weather to fly it.

I guess that's the price we have to pay for so called progress. Best of luck on your first flight after the rebuild. The Goldberg Extra 300 is a really nice flying model and here's hoping it all goes well. How much does the model weight with that 26cc gasser up front.

Karol:
Just weighed it today, complete ready to fly and balanced, it came out 10# 5oz, so it is not light. This is partly due to the rebuild the whole front from turtle deck forward had to be remade and also have the Du Bro glass gear. However, I do think it will fly quite well, we will see.

This is the rebuild as I did it in December, then about three weeks ago I decided to go to a china gasser, ccpr 26 cc. So I have a couple of pictures of the conversion of the front end. I gained a little over a pound from the weight with the ST .90 that I had in it originally.

These are the pics after the redue on the engine. The engine is a tight fit, but still looks quite good. To bad I did not decide this before I cut the Specialties fiber glass cowl for the ninty, but even at that it turned out fairly neat. Am looking forward to flying it, but will not be for a couple of weeks as we are wet here and cold yet in Michigan, perhaps some more snow this evening. O well it will give me more time to run the engine for break in, I already have about two hours on it.

I built one for A friend last year, the cowl and canopy I got at Fiberglass Specialties, talk about sticker shock!! Put A YS 1.40 in it, what A great combo!! I was so taken with this little plane I hated to give it away. Flew perfect right out of the box on maiden, how often does that happen??
My old instructor can't fly anymore so he just gave me the one he had for his practice plane. I only had an OS 1.20 for it but that turned out as A good combo too, not as good as the YS but good enough.
I'm thinking that if your airframe holds up OK that 26 gasser should be outstanding.
I'm one of the guys that finds too much power just about right. Good looking job on the rebuild too. Glad to see this nice little plane not end up in the trash bin.

That's a really nice looking rebuild, and at that weight it should fly great. I went a very similar power route with mine as I started out with a STG90 up front and switched to gas by using a EI G23. At 10 lbs and a few ounces it flies like a dream, lands like a trainer and is the best flying model of this size I have ever flown.

One mod I would recommend you do if you have not already done so, is apart from using tri stock on the inside, pin the firewall to the fuse with some 1/8" dia. hardwood dowels. Hope you are using one servo per aileron too.

Yes I have servos in each wing have pinned the firewall, and a few other strengthening things around the landing gear, etc Thanks for the comments, the engine is a crrcpro 26, I think I called it a ccrp or something like that above.
