Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/11/2004 5:35:50 AM)

Well now its day 2 and man I was a bussy bee today
after checking the alignment of the cruch with the 3 front formers i glued it together and this gave me a frame to go ahead and place all the formers
glued former 7 8 9 10 11 11r 12 13 on to the cruch
then I glued in the horisontal stab seat in its place this is a realy nice built it all goes together like a jigsaw

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/11/2004 5:45:29 AM)

at this point I took out the highteck gear lined up the fues with a laser level because the fues is not built flat on a table I had to make sure it stays nice and strait
now it was time to glue the stringers I made sure to glue them flush with the formers the slots were cut wider than the stringers so i filed them in with epoxy thickend
with cabosil along with this I also managed to glass the controll surfaces on the p47 so now I am going to post those .
Thanks for checking in guys post me some pictures of your build

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/11/2004 7:37:39 PM)

Day 3. Today will be a short one, I have a ball game to play and a christmas party .
Today I worked on the engine box, I changed the ply here and went with a 5 ply as oposed to the 3 ply they supplied.
Cut out a access hole to the fuel tank I always like to have lots of room to get to fuel tanks,
allso drilled some lightning holes to the bottom and top of the box
also i cut some hardwood triangles to renforce the box, later I will drill 1/8 holes and dowel the whole thing.
Notice the lightning holes are not too far forward, this gives me the flexebility to move the firewall as needed.

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/13/2004 4:21:54 AM)

Day 4 today again I had a lot stuff to do so I worked around 3 hours on the stang
I finished up the engine box with some nice 1/8 dowels to renforce the structure I also sheeted 2 spots on top off the fues so I could get it in a cradle
tomorow I will install the air tank the tail retract and the push rods
cheers

ps check out the stab seat can you say swiss cheeeeezzzzzz

scaleMan -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/13/2004 7:05:20 AM)

scaleman

kaksnapper -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/14/2004 1:51:59 AM)

Question: do you know the scale of the Stang? Can't find it anywhere on the plans...Looks good here in N.H. USA...and beats shoveling snow. Good Job...I too have Ziroli P-51 plans on my wall...my next project after the 1/4 sopwith pup, thanx, ken

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/14/2004 2:29:14 AM)

I think it is 1/4.8 scale 2.5" to 1 foot to be exact
I like your plans better then the one I have no water damage

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/14/2004 3:50:13 AM)

Day 5 behind scheduale I managed to get the air tank in and the tail wheel however did not get a chance to place the push rods
I am still contemplating on where to put the servos I would like to get them as far forward as possible I realy want to get away with no led in the nose
well now it's bed time

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/17/2004 2:38:16 AM)

Also I'm not formila with your engine, got a link? thanx and good job, ken

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/17/2004 4:45:47 PM)

Fax # 416 234 1518
No I meen the couple of pages that come with the plans typed out by Nick. See I purchased this off a buddy but my p38 plans came with 7 or 8 pages off building instruction

the engine I chose is Brison 5.8 It is 90cc 40lb of trust a little overpowered but I wanted this one kind of fast. www.brisonaircraft.com

IFLYRC-RCU -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/18/2004 4:00:05 PM)

Did you get your instructions? I pretty sure I have them in my kit box ...

I can fax if needed, just let me know.

JIM

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/18/2004 10:22:45 PM)

Thanks Jim Iwould love it if you could my fax # 416 234 1518 Just put Att. Arthur

Well guys today I managed to get in for a couple of hours and now I have to put on a zut suit and go to my wifes christmas party.
I got the elevator servos and control rods in, as mentioned i wanted to get them as far forward as possible so I went with sulivan carbon rods 4-40
they have low heat strech and are very light here are some pics.

gary9648 -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/18/2004 11:28:19 PM)

Looks like you have done this a few times before, will follow with interest. always looking for new and better ways of doing things. I to am assembling (notice assemble not build) two composite ARF mustangs. they are the same size as the Zirolli. I am using the First Place 5.8 engine in mine and my buddies plane gets the 3W 75 cc engine. I will be placing the elevator servos in the stabs , with the rudder servo behind the tail wheel retract, driving both the tail wheel and rudder. With the 5.8 I do not think I will have to add weight to the nose. Keep up the good work. By the way, who's muffler do you plan to use or are you thinking scale exhaust? We are using the cockpit supplied by Aero accessories along with all his goodies. Using Sierra gear. Robart drop tanks and BVM drop mechanisms. Do you have a pilot figure picked out yet?
Gary

Capt G -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/18/2004 11:41:03 PM)

Gary - Got a link for the cockpit stuff? I am soon starting a Ziroli P-51.

gary9648 -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/19/2004 3:25:40 AM)

http://www.aero-sports.com/aarc/ There you go my friend [&:]

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/19/2004 5:37:57 AM)

I have not looked in to pilots and drop tanks as of yet however I was looking for a good cockpit kit
my plane came with Robart retracts and alu. Rims so I will use them Now what do you guys think
The Grim Reaper or Sweety Face

Arthur K -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/19/2004 7:13:40 AM)

Gary the 5.8 it a hefty motor however I am going to try to place it as far back as I can to barry the motor in the cowl I will probably Machine an extention up front
so I just wanted some Insurance not ot end up with a tail heavy airplane thats y I placed the servos up front tomorow I will instal the ruder and tail wheel servos
and I also will make a scale functioning exaust some time in the new year.
post some pics of your stangs love to see them

gary9648 -> RE: Zeroli P51 Build (12/19/2004 3:55:16 PM)

Go to the thread Fiberclasics/ composite ARF Mustang. you will see the one with the 3W75cc installed.
Go mustangs!!
