I have 56HB's all around on my e-Flite Tribute. I've only had it a couple of months. Never crashed, blah, blah, blah.

All in all; I've been very satisfied and pleased with the performance of the 56's on this plane. I'd never used any micro/feather stuff much and I bought them at the recommendation of my LHS who knows I'm pretty hardcore Hitec.

About a week ago and best I can figure, for no apparent reason; the one on my rudder just started "jumping" all around in very definite places if that makes sense. It will move 10 degrees and almost "lock for 1/2 second and then move, say 5 degrees and then jump the other direction 10 degrees from center. Sometimes, it will just "settle out" and behave fine for a few seconds. Looks just like RF interference but it's not.

It still responds fine to commands but will jump even when being held in place by a TX command. It worked perfectly for a month or so. Despite the fact that I knew it wasn't an interference problem (because it had worked so perfectly for so long), I re-routed all kinds of things to no avail. All the other servos work fine plugged into the rudder channel (a Hitec 8 channel Supreme). I even switched out the RX with an identical spare to no avail. The servo probaly has < 10 hours of actual runtime on it.

Anybody have any ideas if there's anything inside the servo I can look for? A solder joint, maybe or something? My LHS doesn't stock this servo so I don't have access to an immediate replacement. I bought an HS 55 from the LHS yesterday yesterday only to get home to realize that the arm from the 56 wouldn't fit the 55 and the arms in the 55 are all too short. I hate to send a $25 servo back in if it's something I can potentially fix myself. For a $25 servo, I don't mind bustin' it open even if it voids the warranty.

Is this something I can fix or do I just have to suck it up and send it back in and be at the mercy of Hitec repairs for 2-3 weeks?

Thanks in advance.

I would send the servo in to be checked out. You do have a 2 year warranty on it so you have nothing to loose. Once the servo is received by Hitec it will only be a couple of days for our turn around.

Thanks so much, Brendan. I was just hoping maybe it was something I could fix myself. Never hurts to ask.

I'll shoot it out to ya'll on Monday and enclose a copy of this thread for reference about what the problem is.
