This may be a little late, but I've got two Tower .46's and my son-in law has one, all three are great tunners once properly tuned. Tuning the carb is a little tricky, but once set, they give lots of power and run great. Transition from low to high speed is where the only real hassle is, but one the sweet spot is found they are all one could ask for.

....all one could ask for? Why such a low expectation level? Why do people try new plane models, but rarely look into other model engines, or ante up a few extra dollars to try something really good?

Well I just bought a TH .75 engine in an estate sale. I probably won't run it, but sell it on, so I'll never know.

But what I do know is that the Chinese manufactured engines I have are very good. I have a number of Magnum .91 four strokes, and they're every bit as good as the two OS .91 four strokes I run, and exceptional starters. I've never had to touch the low end tuning on any of my Magnums; they're right on out of the box

A good frined, an engine expert, has tested a good few of the ASP (Magnum) range for a local distributor, and he's more than happy to recommend them, particularly the .91 FS and .61 two stroke.

This letter is addressed to Bruce Holecek, the CEO of Tower Hobbies, all executive management and customer service. It is expected that this communication will be forwarded to the intended legal recipients. I will follow-up shortly with each party to ensure that communications were received/

Bruce Holecek, Tower Hobbies CEO and Customer Service Department,

[Customer Service]. thank you for your quick response. You say below to check to website for estimated delivery. To start, when I placed the order I checked the website, why would I need to check it again unless you changed something and didn't bother to tell folks that have pending orders. It said "Late April". Today is says "Late May". Next month will it say "Late June"? Thanks for waiting for me to contact you about the outstanding item. Way to be proactive, way to practice the most fundamental of customer service practices in Total Quality Management. It’s starting to seem that your middle management get their experience from the food-service industry, which isn’t really management at all, but subordinate supervision.

I generally have great respect for the folks that work in customer service. But when a company's customer service department insists on keeping its distance from customers by presenting itself as a nameless entity, that is yet another indicator that your organization is poorly managed.

I respect Bob and Fred and Maggie, but **** YOU customer service. I don't appreciate this **** that you are pulling with my order. You told me a time frame and then you changed it. I don't give a **** if you have charged me yet or not. I made decisions based on your ad, based on time, not currency, not when you would charge me. Are there IQs above 100 in your company? You idiots act as though money is the only factor here (why am I surprised?). Then you provided meager excuses because you are so far removed from what's really happening that all you have is programmed responses and shallow apologies - you are in the lowest rung of the company hierarchy aside from the shipping department, which would explain the poor hourly rate for the employees. It’s clear that at Tower, money comes first. I’ll bet that company meetings rarely start on-time but your managers are all smiles. Tell me I'm wrong Customer Service, you sexy intangible corporate concept, you. If you fail to pass this message up the ladder then you have failed your company's wishes and goal, or they lack them to begin with.

Thanks for the personal touch. I want the engine and I would like it as ADVERTISED. It's not like I bought an engine from an overseas supplier. I bought from Tower Hobbies. Now you are telling me that Tower Hobbies' Management is incapable of planning a production run for their own product? Gee, any chance that Tower imports the engine? The other vendors of similar products don’t **** you over, so why do have business units that serve to ****-over the parent? Are you people paying attention to your own actions or just the actions of customers that you have pissed off? Are you so offended by the tone of this letter that you cease to actually address the problems that it outlines? Are you afraid that middle and upper management will make your life hell when they realize that departmental management is so far gone? If so, then you are the problem, you are too worried about your feelings to extract objectivity and understand what poor business practices Tower represents.

You folks are mediocre at best. Thanks for helping me waste a significant part of the 'hobbies season'. With all this extra time on your hands, not shipping things and all, maybe you can invest additional effort to finding MBAs that can handle running a relatively trivial Mom-n-Pop shop like Tower.

Good day [Customer Service]. You drove away a future customer by being negligent and uninformed.

Unless it's the engine that you promised to send "late April", your response will be ignored. You have lost my trust, you have lost a customer, you have lowered shareholder dividends, you have proactively started an internet boycotting campaign and you further undermined your own reputation by NOT ACTING. Great business practice.

Wow quite a story. I am happy to say that I have never experianced that kind of disappointment in my years of dealing with Tower among others.

I suppose it may be because I never knowingly place a back order, Life is too short for that kind of heartburn and there are to many alternatives out there. Placing a deliberate backorder at Tower or any hobby supplier for that matter is a sure fire way severe heartburn.

Perhaps this is what happened to your engine:

Wow...

I'm sure that letter will get things moving... ...not.

I think you just shot yourself in the foot as far as ever getting a satisfactory resolution to whatever your problem was.

I have two of these engines, and have had nothing but good luck with them. I run APC 10x7 props, and 15% mach 7 fuel. They both have excellent idles, and very good power.

Regards,

Lee

I model on a tight budget, but I love my O.S. AX .46's. I set the needles once,
and fly all day trouble free. I spent the effort to build the kits, why not pony-up
an extra twenty five bones for a "sure thing" engine?
I do have some favorite " low priced" engines.
Supertigre .61 ringed...long break-in, but runs great.
Magnum .52 four stroke...regret selling it, had it on my fourstar 40.
All Norvels....Damn shame the're no longer available.
LA .46......no power-house, but pulled my Avistar well, great for trainers.
MVVS .15......got it used, building a Sig Wonder for it.
