Duke: The sad part, which neither of us has mentioned, is that his 200% sized model of a Lycoming TSIO-540 engine, which was set to develop 750hp, was damaged when the 14' propellor was shortened to nine feet going through the tree. None of us thought to magnaflux the crank shaft, which should always be done after a prop strike. When we recovered the propellor after the take off of the repaired plane, we could see the shaft had broken just behind the propellor hub. As he was doing a hot dogging take off, when the prop and spinner departed the airplane, HE VIOLATED RULE NINE!!! None of us would ever have squealed on him, but somehow Dave Brown got the word, and before we could even push the plane (which was not heavily damaged, just the rudder servo gears) back to the pits DB rose out of the ground and REVOKED HIS AMA MEMBERSHIP!!! Life just isn't fair, sometimes. Bill.
