This post is reguarding my efforts to upgrade and have a New USB Game Commander Controller be a part of the deal!!!

(Previously posted at: http://www.ipacs.de/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=001537)
I want to know how much it will cost to purchase a new usb controller along with the Aerofly Pro Deluxe upgrade, I have asked the question several times and on a few occasions I believed I was told that the upgrade included the new usb Controller (Gamecommander) it may be called.

As a result I excitedly ordered the upgrade, then as I have kept browsing I noticed that a reply email indicated that a USB Cable would be sent. No mention of the controller was made.

Why is it so difficult to get a straight answer from AeroflyPro dealers? !!!

I have asked, and asked and asked and still cannot get a straight answer!!!

I would like to have one of the new USB Controllers, not just the cable. . .

Can anyone out there read?

If you are a person of knowledge and capable of providing me with an accurate answer, please respond.

Please be advised if you thought otherwise.

I am getting very frustrated.

*********************************************************************************************

I recieved a clear response from Torsten Hans, an IPACS Developer.

"Hello,

The current AeroFly Pro Deluxe is only shipped with a USB (Cable) interface for use with your own radio/transmitter. The USB GameCommander is currently NOT available. Sales of the USB GameCommander will start in 2005. For details regarding the exact shipping time, please contact IKARUS USA in 2005."

*********************************************************************************************

So that appears to be the firm and solid answer at this time.
The current AeroflyPro Deluxe Upgrade does not include a USB Game Commander Controller.

The only way to upgrade to the Commander is to purchase an entire Commander verison and there is a reason.

Eariler version of AFP Deluxe Commander came with a 15 Pin Commander (radio) and 9 Pin serial (interface). So if you have the earlier version of AFP Deluxe Commander you CAN upgrade, but you must use your current Commander.

The new Commander is now USB right from the radio to the computer. There is no additional cables needed. The encryption mechanism is now on the Commander itself instead of the Interface cable.

So no if you have the current AFP Commander and you want to upgrade, you will get a new Interface and CD. However you must mail in your 9 Pin serail Interface and main CD (AFP 1.2x).

That is the reason I will not be buying the "upgrade" or the full version for a while. Ikarus has given me insufficient reason to take the risks and costs associated with upgrading to the new version of their software. If it works out okay and runsfor the majority of people, I may buy it after the first patch comes out.

TanThank you for your replys.
I guess I will be selling AeroflyPro at some point in the future if they will not allow an upgrade that includes the controller!

Maybe it will be time to try out Reflex XTR!

Have a nice day and happy landings.

Oops! that appears to be some absent minded blabering in a repeat fashion. Pardon.

Has anyone out there been using a Futaba T9CHP radio as a controller on AeroflyPro?

If yes, how has that been working out?

What adaptor did you have to order for it to work?

I have been using a 9C on AFP for a long time and now on AFPD with no problems. You can get the adapter from Dion at http://aeroflypro.com/purchase/ about half way down the page.

Thank you K0brd,

I will keep that in mind. Will wait a little because one way or other If I stick with Aerofly, I will get the Deluxe version and the USB Commander controller, then I will want the connection I get for the Futaba T9CHP radio to work with that combination.

Clark

Hi Mike,

This is Clark, otherwise know here as "Cyberglued."

Thank you for the input.

How does the Game Commander compare to a standard transmitter, ie: (buttons, switches, controls, etc . . .)
Up to this point I have never tried to use anything other than my RealFlight USB Controller which has worked very well.
But now I would like to pass Realflight along to someone who might appreciate it more.

As you have seen from my previous input, I was under the impression that the upgrade came with the New USB Game Commander Controller, but I have since begun to belive that this may have just been a mistaken interpretation of communications recieved.

Now it appears that if I want the AeroflyPro Game Commander with Aeroflypro Deluxe, I will have to Sell AeroflyPro, then purchase AeroflyPro Deluxe as a new product!!!

Maybe this will change in the future when the new USB Game Commander is actually available. ICARUS may then find enough interest to warrant selling the Game Commander controller as an upgrade in combination with the Deluxe upgrade package or as a stand alone item.

The AFP Game Commander is a plastic transmitter-type box with two joysticks plus a button for a total of five channels of control. It plugs into the joystick /game port of your computer.

Regards.

This is the previous Commander version. The newer version is USB and come with 7 channels I've been told.

2 stick, 2 switches and 1 dial.

Ok now, if the encryption is on the new AFPD Commander, then how could we use AFPD if we own AFP and we have the orginal game commander? Thanks, and I would rather get the new commander if I bought AFPD upgrade.
