    Dick,

I follow what are you saying. My question then becomes how do you determine 'watts needed'
I know it has to do with the weight of the model or the thrust needed? But not sure.

I regularly go with what works for other people so I never felt the need to explore this further.

    Thanks,

    Stratos.-

Don't order from them, call some hobby shops locally and get one. I found one in Michigan, and I know many HobbyTown USA dealers carry them, you can find all there numbers on the main website and just start calling. This way you know for a fact you have one and they can ship it to you. Mine should be here next week. Chief doesn't have them in stock right now although they say they do, they only got 2 in yesterday and had 200 backordered (or some rediculous number).

Also, I cancelled my order with Horizon as they just in the past day moved the backorder date till mid January. Let me know if you find any in stock or need help.

I got mine today from a not so local HS. A friend was driving there to pick one up and told him to give me a call
if they had another one. He did and I end up getting the tensor, the 1360 Eflight motor, 2 2 cell apogee 1050 packs, a couple 10x4.7 props
and a Jeti 8 controler. They didn't have the Phx 10 in stock but the Jeti should work just as well.
I have servos and a receiver at home so it should be ready to fly soon.

I had some 3cell 730 packs gave to me for early xmas b/c i was originally going witht he 1080kv motor
is it ok to run this pack on the 1360 as long as i watch my throttle??
    thanks

I know the Thunderpower 3S 730s are good for 7.3 Amps continuous and even more in bursts. I am not sure how much that motor will pull but I would say your safe as long as your careful with the throttle. The Axi 2208/34 setup I will be running is going to push 10 amps at full throttle, so I'll be pushing the speed controller, motor, and batteries.

    Santa showed early

8 hours start to finish and I build sloooww.

    Axi 2212/34
    APC 11-3.8
    4.4 servos
    Castle 10

I like it. Rolls well, good elevator, made to knife edge.

Pic of the test flight at 8 pm, 34 degrees (and thats cold for us Texas boys)

    Hey Dick Hanson,
Were you using a two cell or three cell pack on that Himax 2808? I have the 2808-980 and not sure which packs to get. I have several of the larger three cell packs but nothing for the 2808.
    Thanks,, Matt

Is anybody adding a second aileron servo so more flaperon/snap flaperon/spoileron, etc.. mixing can be done or is it just not needed with this airplane?

on the origonal prototype that mr hicks himself flew .. i believe that he was flying with two serves and i remember hearing some stuff about it making some interesting mixing functions....

On the 2808- 860---I have tried everything from 11x4.7-to present setup 9x4.7 -APC sf all .on up to 15 oz Tribute!
for the best use of this motor - stay under 10 ozs - (my plane is just under 8 ozs.)
Then -you get super performance on th 9" prop on 3 small cells - I flew the new 3/1-350P-J Multiplex 3 cell pack today - one ounce!
flight first flight with this packwas easily over 5 minutes with plenty of performance-on a 9x5 APC - the 9x4/7 is better .
My first motor setups were with the 11x4.7 and these pull the motor too hard for best power and battery uses.
Your motor wil run either pack but it is wound for two cells in general use.
I really like this motor -my little 208 sq in Cassut is very quick when punched - .
I will build (?) my Tensor after Christms - I got one for my son and he got me one --
a TP 850 two cell will work -but I really prefer the 3 cell setups - most of my flying is done outdoors so I need more power for wind penetration.
I can't stress weight control enough - I can easily tell the difference in flying a one ounce or a 3 ounce pack -
Youcan do th Tensor at 9+ ounces and it will be fine .
These planes do fly rather differently -compared to most 3D monoplanes -so be prepared to mix and rebalance a bit o get a good feel .
I love this size/weight model -It will still work outside in a faint breeze although it's real forte is indoor flying.
