Is a TP 3 cell 1320 batterypack good for this plane with an axi 2208/34? Or should I got with the 860s. THe hobby shop has the 1320s instock. 1320 should still be ok with about 1/2 oz more weight then the 860s???

I would try to keep the weight down but the 1320 would work okay, this plane fly's best under 10 ounces, so you will have to find other ways to remove weight!

flew my tensor indoors today .. really fun except im using a gws pico servo and got glitches a few times but that was expected ....knife edge passes around and around i even trimmed it so i only needed the right stick to do them

and i can now anti torque roll

    Hi Folks,
Does the Tensor need any right thrust?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

Please everyone, build it box stock, ('cept a couple of 4.5 inch CF down the shock fuse, in front of the servo cuttout, 2.3 grams) keep it light.....if it becomes heavy, the LG will punch through the wing on an O so normal landing. Resist the urge to use a bigger battery, it will make it fly like a pig.
    Just don't do it.
Keep it as close to 10 ounces as possible. 2 ounces more is too much.
Fly some other plane if you can't get this Tensor to the recomended specs, period.
I have had 10-15, flop over, stall/mush into the ground, goofball laugh out loud landings and a cartwheel or 2 with only a cracked wheelpant. No foolin'
    If I'm lyin', I'm dyin'.

Okay guys, got back from the AMA Show in Ontario tonight. I put on the Littlescreamer CD ROM motor weighing 24 grams with motor mount. 18 ounces of thrust on 3S and my AUW was 8.4 ounces . Guys, this is the motor for this plane, there were over 7-10 Tensor's at the show, including Mark Leseberg's few, Mike Mcconville, Bill Hemple, Dough Cronkite, and a couple others. They used the eflite outrunners and axi, of course they all flew great because well, when you have a TOC competitor, a Unlimited world class champion and basically the best pilots in the world they are bound to fly great.

We all builts ours stock, and after the 3 days, 0 Tensors made it out alive . I will say one thing though, THEY CAN TAKE A BEATING. Mine had about 10-15 mid air collisions and guess what, THE WEAK SPOT ON MINE WAS NOT NEAR THE FUSE BY THE SERVOS. My elevator was ripped off, ripped and aileron off, wings both had holes in it, the fuse by the canopy had 3-4 cracks all the way down and everyone elses was exactly the same.

I'm tired now but they are definately the weirdest/easiest plane to fly. Harrier rolling circles just require you to turn the ailerons, I used NO RUDDER OR ELEVATOR! This REALLY through me off and a few tensors crashed because of this.

Shortman, it sounds like you had a blast even if you did rip your Tensor! I would love to have seen you guys all buzzing around at once, I bet it was a riot!

Great advice Mike, I'm concerned many guys don't understand what this plane was designed for, and how it should be flown. Mine is for indoors only. This bird is for slow floating acro. When I want to rip it up, I'll pull out my E-Flite Mini-Funtana or Extreme Flight YAK55-E, but that's another thread!

    Shortman,

Got a chance to see you and a few others fly. Convinced me to buy a Tensor. Looked like just too much fun! Hope to have mine up soon.

Oh come on now!! Mine is still alive and flying Mark literally destroyed one into so many pieces it would have been more glue than foam had he tried to rebuild it.. hehe..

That littlescreamer motor is amazing. I'm going to have to try one soon for sure. McConville and I mid-aired literally 5 seconds into the 1st demo on Friday and it was just ON from there.. hehe. Much fun.

Mine was easily the heaviest of the bunch with JR 281 servos, JR 610M in the plastic case (not the UL version), and TP 1320 2cell battery. All up weight was 10.3 ounces. My new one at 7.4 ounces is going to be so much fun!

Doug, how did you get your new Tensor so light? 7.4 oz. What equipment are you using on it?

    Hey Guys:

I finished my Tensor up last week and with the weather here in Eastern PA, I finally got to try it yesterday afternoon. It was cold, but otherwise dead calm.

I built mine stock, Eflight 1350 outrunner, CC Phoenix 10 controller, APC 10 x 4.7 prop, Polyquest 2 cell 860 pack, HS55s allaround. No extra reinforcments, but I did use a small amount of epoxy mixed with balloons to reinforce the foam around the carbon struts. I'm just under 10oz. I'm balance at the 2.5" mark approximately.

This this is wierd, but quite a hoot to fly. You definately have to stay on the rudder, or really coordinate the airleron and elevator. Airlerons just rotate.

The plane had plenty of power for normal flying. I'm no 3Der, but I'm trying to learn. Seems to have enough snot to hover, but not tons of extra. I got more then 10 minutes of flight horsing around.

There's some funky coupling in knife edge. What kind of mixes are you guys running? I'm not real good at setting this stuff up. I'm running a n Futaba 8UAF if anyone can tell me what mixes to try, I would really appreciate it. Also, some folks have recommended balancing back as far as 3" from the leading edge. Any comments on this? The plane seemed pretty neautral to me at 2.5, but I'm game for some experimentation.

Definately an unusual plane. Great for practicing to learn to use your left hand. I'm builind the Mini Funtana next for the fast and furious end of the spectrum. I just can't get over how much this new electric stuff has changed the hobby for me this year. ;-) Between these little birds and AeroFly Pro Deluxe I'm actually getting some time to fly!

    Happy new year guys!

    Regards,
    Lee Snover

Try the 3 inches, it works pretty good on the cg. Use one of your Pmixes in your advanced menu to set up when you give rudder, you get a little up elevator, start off with say 5 degrees up elevator to full rudder. Fly it around, and just keep it on that screen on your transmitter, as you adjust it, you will see the plane does not go towards the gear in knife edge flight, or it may still, add more or less throw to the elevator to adjust. try a flat turn with just rudder, there will be a point that you can do almost a race track turn with just rudder, minor aileron input, to make a cool flat turn. Too much elevator and it will want to enter a snap, too little and it wont perform it that flat. just play with it till you find it the way you like it.
Pmix will be the one Rudder master, elevator slave. I forget just what one it is on the 8 Futaba.

Thanks for the input. Will give it a try next time the weather breaks. I'm not quite ready to try it indoors yet. ;-)
