All your planes are very beautiful. Kram, I envy your SDB, very well done, and Kudos on the Val Canuk. I am very fond of Skyraiders too. Although I have never built a Skyshark kit, I do have one, or all of them, on my wish list once I get done with some current projects and other obligations. After building Royal, Topflight, and Great Planes kits all my life, these Skyshark kits look like diamonds compared to the other brands.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Scott

Kram51, beautiful job on your SBD. It looks kinda small . What are the dimensions and weight? That could be a truelly beautiful airplane if it were a little larger. Any comments on the building and perfecting those flaps and trapeze

It's not a big plane at all, you're right. As for the build it was quite straight forward. I had this one built in about 2 months. The bomb trapeze is my own design. It utilizes a plunger and spring to return to the up position after the weight of the bomb has pulled it down.

Here are the vitals:

Scale: 1/9
WS: 55.3 inches
Weight: 7.75 lbs.

The flaps and dive brakes were set up according to the plans and they work very well! I fly up as high as I can turn into the "target" area at about half throttle (which is into the wind) and drop the flaps. Retard the throttle to a high idle and open the dive brakes. The plane almost immediately stops flying. Push the nose over and listen to the wind in the air brakes! bombs away! at about 75-100 feet and close the brakes while still on the way down to build up some airspeed. That's about how the real ones did it too!!!

Thanks for the compliments!

Mark

Let me see Art. I'm still unpacking from my move to VA and for the most part the trapeze was done with the LAR method! (Looks About Right). I will do my best for you though. . .

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Canuck, the Val looks great. You're a fast worker. When will it fly for the first time? Is it a frozen waste land where you are too? What engine is in this plane???? Thanks.

Great news everybody. Mike at Skyshark says they will be posting customer planes on the Skyshark web site sometime after Christmas! Click here for more details. http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2602&PN=1

I do work quickly when I am motivated. I find that when a project is nearing completion I can not stop. Drives the wife crazy. Won't fly until spring. To darn cold here thats for sure. I plan on using my OS.91 FX for power. I know it is rated for a 60, however I do not have a 60 and the .91 is the same weight as a 60 size. A little over kill in the power, but I dont have to fly at full power. I was hoping to clearcoat it today, but it is just to darn cold. I usually paint in the garage and turn on the heat. It is suppose to warm up within the next couple of days so I will do it then. Next project.... KMP Hurricane sitting in the basement just waiting to get built.
Baldeagle;
This plane would definately be awsome in a larger scale. As for blowing up the plans not to sure. I still have the wood sheets that contained all the ribs and stuff. It would be a great looking warbird at 1/5th scale. To many others in line, Hurricane. TF GS P-47, which is half done and I am scratch building, or attempting to, a ME262.
Craig.

I am the same way about working hard when motivated. I would be curious to know what you think of the Hurricane. I was seriously considering that plane, but I heard the retracts aren't worth having. So with that in mind I switched to thinking about a H9 Corsair. Then I hear on this web page about problems with it...... I don't know anymore. I will keep working on what I have I guess.

Skyshark's Skyraider. It is my first warbird and first tries with fiberblass using Polyurathane. painted in the camo version using Perfect paint. It has fixed gear ( don't know much about retract yet), and equiped with OS 50SX
