xjk9bar1 -> CheroKrawler - Failed! - Any Suggestions? (12/18/2004 6:29:38 AM)

Tried it out last night and it failed! Moved 2 feet and the body flopped over from the torque. I held the body up and gave it another try and it wouldn't move. It was like the everything was bound up. Electronics/Motor/Battery (full charge) all brand new w/ 4 runs in the back yard.

The suspension set-up allowed for excellent articulation (about 70') and 4" of center clearance...well until the engine torque was applied. The controls arms were mounted in a "W" configuration w/ the lower control arms more parrallel. The shocks were mounted to the lower control arms/chasis.

Could it be the TLT shocks couldn't handle the torque? Or is it a give and take between articulation and fighting body roll?

Faulty tube design?

Any suggestions?

Aftermarket shocks with stiffer springs will help a lot. You have added a lot of weight with the tube chassis and aluminum siding.

With the extra weight I would also suggest you add some wheel wideners. Inetrc.com has some that will extend the axel width by 1.5" and add much stability to your truck (Looks really good by the way).

You will generally always have some body roll, but most of it can be worked out by changing things.

The more upright you place your shocks the less body roll you will have (you also loose some articulation).

Also the more powerfull the motor the more body roll you are going to have.

Thanks, I think I'm goint to put the TLT-10 setup back together and throw a CJ-8 body on it. As far as the CheroKrawler, I'm going to lose the skins and either clod it or Emaxx tranny and Jug axles.

Those front shocks are in a bind....looks like to me anyways....try getting them wheels further from each other...looks to me like they are too close together
