I`M NOT FAMILIAR WITH S&W FUEL. [/QUOTE]

S&W is pretty popular here on the east coast. Here in Boston, our selection of LHSs is pretty bad, so it's quite common for us to run up to RC Buyers Warehouse up in Nashua, NH... They seem to be the largest semi-local shop around. They seem to carry a lot of S&W fuels.

CAP232CM -> Who Flys What Fuel? (4/23/2002 8:21:52 AM)

Wildcat fuel is all I've ever used and seems to work well for me. I run 15% Prem Xtra in my 40 sized 2 strokes and in my four strokes. I use 5% Prem in all my big 2 strokes.

Question: Has anyone ever ordered directly from Wildcat?

PineBaron -> Who Flys What Fuel? (4/25/2002 7:22:27 AM)

Cool Power 10% on all 4C. Saito and YS.

Seth -> Who Flys What Fuel? (4/25/2002 8:39:28 AM)

Power master 15% all the way!
Seth

Mark DiMonte -> 2 stroke fuel (5/8/2002 8:19:33 PM)

I just switched to wilcat premim extra 15%. Never seen a fuel make that much of a difference. Great idle, cool running and great power :p

mrbonk -> Another vote for home-brew! (5/21/2002 9:15:35 AM)

I mix my own fuel. When I first got the heli (Feb2000), I was going through so much of the stuff, I simply couldn't justify buying premix when I could mix it myself for around half the cost!

For my OS.46FXH in the heli (with a custom made piston and liner from Ranjit Phelan here in Aus), my OS.40FP and my Magnum.40GP, I'm running 20% Klotz, 10% nitro and 70% methanol.

For my YS.91FZ, I'm running 20% Klotz, 20% nitro and 60% methanol.

For my Super Tigre .45, I'm running 20% castor, 80% methanol. The pylon rules here don't allow nitro or synthetic oils.

For those wanting to know where I get the ingredients, keep in mind I'm in Australia.....

Nitro comes from VP Racing Fuels, on the QLD Sunshine Coast. We buy in bulk and split it up between 3 of us. A 20l drum costs A$330.

Methanol comes from a local BP Fuels depot. We buy a 20l drum each at a time. Last time I checked, it was A$34 for 20l, but I understand it's gone up substantially since then.

Klotz comes from a hobby shop in a nearby town. A$85 for a 5l bottle of KL200, fully synthetic.

Castor comes from a local Castrol depot. A$55 for a 5l tin.

Home Brew for 3 years now, no surprises. Just three ingredients syn.oil/nitro/meth.

LEDZx -> Who Flys What Fuel? (5/25/2002 8:14:51 PM)

My brew,

20% NSSR - 80%Methanol

Cheaper than what u get in the shops although slightly oilier( but then you still have to clean your craft down anyway when running an oil mix), haven't had a glow plug fail on me yet since i have been running this.
Good flying,
Ledz

Extra_flya -> Who Flys What Fuel? (5/30/2002 6:24:01 AM)

I run Byron YS 20% nitro fuel. And it works great in it!!

Jake

MrMotor -> Fuels (6/13/2002 7:22:19 AM)

I use SIG Fuels in all of my 2 strokes with the exception of my scale carrier planes where I mix my own fuel of 70% Nitro 20% Klotz oil and 10% Propylene Oxide.
I am amazed at all the people that state they run a fuel they just love, but they add ingrediants to improve it. Sig fuels have 20% oil in their regular blends and need nothing added. They also make special fuels for special purposes with either less or more oil as is needed by the engine.
Mr. Motor

Jerkey -> Sig Fuel (6/24/2002 10:21:09 AM)

I also run Sig Fuel in all my engines. I was begining to think I was going to be alone here. But thanks to MtMotor I'm not. Good fuel,good lubrication. And if I had to add ingredients to fuel to bring it up to my standards I would be shopping around for another fuel. Thats like adding raisins to wheaties to make Raisin Brand.

Thanks,

Mike

Furyflyer2 -> Who Flys What Fuel? (6/27/2002 8:13:38 PM)

Trucker-RCU -> Who Flys What Fuel? (7/26/2002 8:40:05 AM)

Wildcat 15%, just switched to it. So far have been very satisfied.

Geistware -> Who Flys What Fuel? (7/26/2002 3:38:02 PM)

Wildcat 2&4 stroke 15% nitro
My other fuel is unleaded gas and Amsoil oil

rickwallace45 -> S&W Fuel (8/1/2002 9:07:56 PM)

Been running S&W for three years now - same oil makeup-- nitro goes down in winter, up in summer. NO fuel related problems to date!

4-5 of us go together on drums of S&W 15% or 20% w/ 17% syn oil and 2% castor - 3-4 drums / year for the past three years.

We bring the drum home, pour it into 1-gallon jugs we've saved /collected, and we're good to go! Stores fine for up to 2 yrs (that I know of) that way.

Why does nitro go down in the winter and up in the summer. Additional nitro should help out starting a cold engine and should produce a bit more power with dense cold air. Additional nitro when it's hot and humid out may result in detonation. Seems like you may want to reverse your consumption.

Contest practice / flying -
We need less nitro in the winter since the engine makes more power then in the colder denser air. (for starting: when temp is in the 30's, a squirt of lighter fluid in the carb gets things going for the first flight)

For summer flying - hot, humid air - power is down, so higher nitro content brings the power back to the needed levels for decent airplane performance. Sometimes end up w/ an extra head shim to stop/prevent the pinging, but power stays good.

deckerv -> Who Flys What Fuel? (8/6/2002 12:34:35 AM)

Wildcat 10% 2/4 cycle fuel for planks

and still looking for an online shop that sells a good Supertigre blend... any suggestions??

MinnFlyer -> Who Flys What Fuel? (8/7/2002 8:40:10 PM)
