I would most likely have gone non-digi in this plane if the price per servo was $20.00 more, but it was not it was only $7.50 more.

$7.50 more give's you better centering and better holding power(not that the holding power is needed in this plane). I tend to think about what plane I would like my servo's next when buying them just in case they outlive the plane(Hmm...16 pound 28%er)

I too was concerned about the digi's buring my battery down until I installed these same servos into a 68" Yak. I have a 4oz 1200ma 2/3a 6V battery pack(I like the 2/3a cells at this size because of the low internal resistance) and can fly 6 spirited 10 min flights with it before recharge. This is no worse than the draw I have seen with any other servo I have flown with. I usually quick charge it after 3 or 4 flights if I know I am going to fly more than 6 that day.

Drumbum, have you actually seen faster draws with the digi's?

Another cheaper servo to consider is the Futaba S3305 MG --only $35.00 .2sec 124oz at 6v. Most likely a good match for this plane.

For those who are worried about the current draw of the HS 5625 and HS 5925, I am running the 5925's on the tail feathers and the 5625's on the ailerons of my OMP 65" Yak 54. The battery is a 4.8 V. 1100 mAh NiCD. After flying 5 ten minute flights I did a discharge cycle at the C/5 rate (220 mA) and found I had 440 mAh remaining before they hit 4.4 Vdc. Seems like plenty of reserve to me. I would not hesitate to make a couple more ten minute flights on them. .......RJ

    1) I think the draw is low because the plane's are light(8 to 10 pounds)--when the plane gets heavier(15-20 pounds) the draw goes up. If you don't work the servo(because of the light weight of the planes) they won't draw hard.

    2) These servos are capable of a very large draw though (I think it happens for small periods of time on these light planes during high G maneuvers) so I like to run them at 6V (some voltage in reserve for spikes) and a battery with low internal resistance that can handle a good current draw. That's why I like the little 2/3a batteries.

Kyle, you mentioned you wanted a giant Katana (like Silvestri). I've been doing a little research on that and it seems like Aeroworks (www.aero-works.net) is the only one that makes one - a 29% (runs on a 50cc) and a 36%. I'm actually thinking about getting one. Which manufacturer were you considering? Or do you think there are a lot better 3D planes out there than this in the 27% category?

havn't been to this thread in a bit, but as for the 40 size, a guy in our club has one, agrees with kyle that it is more squirly than the 90, he says quite a bit more, and for power, after trying a couple diff motors, he ended up with a fx91, its crazy, he did have to cut the covering and get his battery as far back as he could to help balance, i think he had to bend the gear a tad for more prop clearance, but man that thing is a rocket ship with wings boy, it will take off like a ufo in warp speed from a dead hover, look out man

Hey Kyle is there any way you could make a little couple of minutes video on how you do your rolling harriers, you know show your plane and then quickly show your stick movements, there has been no one to do this yet on here, I believe I speak for alot of people and think that it would be great help,,or tell us about it in a brief essay, I understand the concept but the rolling harriers is the only thing that I havent' gotten down,,,,,,,

i watched the rolling harrier one from 3dmatrix i think, where they use the simulator and show the sticks in the bottom corner, thats kinda cool but a real life vid is always better, i have some of the newer guys in my club watch me when i do spins and hovers and such, (still working on rolling hariers myself,)but i like to share my knowledge as i would think you do too, i'm almost there, can harrier around in circles upright and inverted, flipping around once every so often, its kinda cool but not a smooth roll by no means, i'll get it down eventually but i like watching other vids regardless if i think i know how or not, so i'd want to see it too if you felt like making one kyle

    Flying Cirkus 3D University

Check this site out. It will likely throw some cold water on the "Kyle Worship" that's been seen here for a couple of months.

They have instructional videos you can download..Rolling Harrier is one of them. You see the plane in flight, and a small screen in the bottom corner of the monitor shows you control inputs. Very impressive 3D flying in their VIDEOS section...not to take away from Kyle's efforts.

The Ultimate 3D instructional video does a very good job showing the rolling harrier. Very much worth the $.

    http://www.jpmediainc.net/ultimate3d.html

I can do them (badly)--I do not have control of direction yet. I am pretty good on the sim and my foamy, but when I get my nitro plane in the air I have to deal with the pucker factor as well (adrenaline flows & hands shake because the plane is doing things I don't plan on it doing). Would not be as fun to fly if I was not continually trying to push the envelope and learn new things (that is what gets the plane out of shape).

Sorry guys, but it would be hard for me to do something like that. I do not own a camcorder, so I have guys that just video tape when they happen to be out there.. Sorry. The videos on the 3dBatix site, or the Flying Cirkus 3DU videos are good. Or i could make recordings on either G2 or G3 that i could send to people so they can watch it right there on their sim and fly while they watch the inputs of another plane... Just a thought..

    Hi Kyle,
I watched your other video on the electric F90, and that one does't seem to 3D as well as your (with the YS 1.20); is the CG of the electric farther forward???
