I have the 40 size as well as the 90 & a 29% Kat (What can I say I love Katana's). To me the 40 size is very stable. I just up'ed the power plant from the OS 46 to the new Saito 82. BIG difference in power. Anyway the 40 size would have to be extreeemly tail heavy or overweight to be "squirley" - on mine anyway. I can land it at a crawl without stalling & 3 point & tail wheel first landings are a breeze. Flying the length of the runway with the tail wheel touching the ground is quiet fun as well.

CG on these planes, as most, makes all the difference in the world. I always take the recommended as just that - recomendations. Spend the extra time to add an ounce here & there & move it around till your happy w/ the flying characteristics. Once your happy measure the CG, remove the weight & move stuff around in the fuse till you get it back to where it was with the weight. Ones opinion of an aircraft can change dramatically just by doing this.

    rsrogers,

I just finished my FuntanaS .40 with a Saito .82. Kyle's videos inspired my choice. I can't wait to fly it.

What is your favorite prop for the Saito .82?

rc4me2 I just ran the engine yesterday. I ran 2 tanks on the ground & then 2 8 - 10 min flights but I was using a 14/6. I dont know if this is the best prop of choice but it dosent seem to put alot of load on the engine so I guess that will be good for it for the first gal. or so.

There is a thread here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2480393/anchors_2480393/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#2480393 that talks about props for this engine

    Wahoooo!

Another Kyle video! This is like Christmas coming twice in one year!

Nice video. I really like the reverse torque roll and the one-right-one-left rolling harrier.

That must be a magical Funtana - it repaired itself during the flight .

I was wondering how do you learn those manuvers repedative or what. I can do bvasic 3d like knife edge tumble and hovering prop hanging etc. But was wondering how you make everything so smooth. I am flying a foamy and know they are jerky so I might by a futana and try it out.
    thanks

    Hi Kyle,

What Real Flight G2 plane do you practice 3D with? I noticed that you had said that you try stuff on the sim first.

    Thx,

Yeah that sound like a plan I have tried that before but lost all my stuff. During the summer I fly everyday but during the school year I have to slow down. I have been flying 3d for a year and I have been getting beter but I don't do much simulator flying so I might have to try that.
    thanks

    Kyle,

What's that knife edge looking spin you do in the video called? Does it have a name? It looks like your just coming in on a knife edge and using full rudder and elevator. Does that sound correct?

Tried your Extra off of the swap page and man is it sensitive. It does great flat spins though. I'm going to fly it for a while and see if I can get used to it. It seemed hard to hold in a hover.

Try low rates on the extra. I know i have made a few minor changes to the plane sence i sent it in.

are you talking about the 1st spin of the video? if so, its called a 'Tipspin' or some people call it a 'Knife Edge Spin'

    -fly staright up.
-stall out and tap right rudder to get the plane on its side
-then hold full left rudder, full down elevator, and MABY a little bit of left aileron.
-you will have to work with the aileron to get it straight.

to exit. you can either just fly out or do a blender at the bottom.

    Hope that helps...

Hey Kyle just wondering what tail wheel assembly you changed over to. I am looking at the new Dave Patrick ultra Tailwheel assembly. Like some guys have said, the Sullivan tailwheel hooks up really tidy just under the rudder with only one spring. The only hitch is that they say it really is not all that effective.

    Whats your take?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I have the Sullivan. it seems to work good, no problems with its design. although i had my wheel fall off and so the axil caught onto our runway and bent it back the wrong way, so its a pain to taxi now. you can see it bent backwards in the video.

Hey Kyle , is yours the 5-12lb or the 10 22lb. Like I said , the rig is very tidy. So long as there is not alot of play in it after several uses. I'd rather not have to add a rudder steering arm to accomodate a new rig.

mine is the 5-12. I have the same setup on my funtana 40, after a while the wire will start to lay over on it side and it does get a little mory loose on the ground.

Is there any chance you could upload your latest extra to the swap page. I mean, you've only got 500 replies a day to answer so you need more to do.

i use the same tail wheel that kyle is using, works good for me, some people say that the spring can break or not stay tight enough to work properly, i have no complaints, just stretch it out enough so its nice and tight before sticking it in the rudder, no problems yet
