Hey Kyle, I am assembling my Fun90 at this time and I have a Saito 180 to go in it. Will that be to much motor for it?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I have never seen a 180 run in person, so i cant say much for it. but i have heard that the funtana 90 is awesome with them.

Sorry you can't make it. Also tomorrow I'll start assembling the Fun90. I now have the option of the Saito180 or an OS160. I know there are some flying it with the SA180, but which do you feel would be a better choice? The 160 is probably a little lighter...?

    Kyle,

Having all your videos and airplanes in one place is a great convenience. I have sent the link to a few friends.

Question: In the "mix" video it looks like you had an "ooopsie" with the big Extra and almost lost it way out in a field. Can you tell us what happened?

Yeah, Brett sure is a great help with that one!

about the "oooopsie"..... My Failsafe was set to chop the throttle. and my servos were fighting, so it pulled the batteries down below 4v. and when it went down that far it went into failsafe.

    Moral or the story.....
I need to learn how to setup multible servos.. it's all setup good now and i dont have that problem anymore.

ten pillows: actually the 160 with muffler is heavier, its like 40 something oz's, the 180 is only low 30 something, i'd check it out if i was you, the 180 is lighter though i can tell you that, however, a guy in my club used a 160 with the stock muffler, got it to balance with his battery in the back of the fuse, he cut some covering so he could put it way back, but didn't have to add any weight, and its a ROCKET, but check your weights if your concerned about it, i was suprised myself, but the 180 is lighter

Thanks Diamonddave, I can use the 180. This plane really isn't meant to fly fast, is it? I am sure there are much better choices for engines, these are the two I have availabe though. Thank you for your comments.

no i don't think its supposed to be a speed freak, stay with big diameter and low pitch props, i run a 16-6 with my 108, it hauls it around plenty fast enough, but more important, it gives it "out of the hole" power, like for vertical stuff...

i know some of you guys have put 120 4 strokes in your funtana 90 ARF plane.so tell me what you did to make the engine fit that stock mount with out knocking off the engine center aligment.becuse when i try to put my satio 120 in there i have to force it and it spreads the mounts apart there for making my engine not so stright anymore.i could use a great planes planes ajustable 120-180 engine mount, but i'm not sure if i can get everything set back in the center.whats the trick ?

Use the Dave Brown mount. It's very light and fits great (made for your engine).

You will need to move the blind nuts though.

    Solarviper...

    Check out this thread:

    http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1690007/mpage_83/key_funtana/tm.htm

I have photo's posted of my Saito 150 install, and many others are doing 120's and other. The 120 and 150 have the same crankcase. This does require moving the blind nuts, but it's not too bad. I used the stock mount, and added a Sullivan vibration kit to it. Check out the thread (all 84 pages of it, lots of good stuff there)

I replaced the .90 two stroke engine I started with...the Saito 150 came my way so I jumped on it. All I can say is WOW! Unbelievable power, still flys very light. Floats on in (unless your CG is too far back, then you just sort of porpoise in like Flipper.

I used the great planes mount.

Obviously, I mounted the engine inverted. There are regulator valves to prevent siphoning. I just use forceps until I'm ready to start up. Maybe I'll get a valve at some point. Motor/plane combo is really something.
