I just pick up one of these Funtanas to replace a Cyclone that I put in earlier this week. I have to say Kyle it was your video's that made the final sale for me. Keep them coming.

I am just about to install my elevators and was surprised to see a bevel only on the elevator and not the stab--Looks like I will only get 45° if I don't double bevel. At the end of your Kyle2 video you give full down elevator and it looks like 60° or well past 45 anyways. Did you double bevel? How much do you have? Is more than 45° needed to do anything.

    Thanks,

    GPS

Don't overcomplicate this airplane. The most important point to remember regarding control surfaces is to maximize mechanical advantage. You don't want your wings "grenading" on you just because you thought you had to get into some wild throws for the airplane to perform...all the while weakening the structure.

Just build it up light and strong...it will probably be more than you need!

Have fun...after all, that's what this is all about, right?

Yes it is a hobby for me. Part of the fun is trying to learn something new. That is why I asked Kyle about the apperent large down travel he has on his elevator. His KE spins are out of this world!

Don't worry this bird is not going to explode if you double bevel correctly and use the correct servo and set up. I just want to know if it is neccisary.

On both Funtana .40 and .90 I inreased the possible throw on elevator by SLIGHTLY compressing the stab edge (creating a SMALL double bevel). The covering wrinkles can then be smoothed out. I gained about 10* of throw.

hey, I did not double bevel. I just left a large gap. I know its not the best way to do it, but it seems to work just fine.

Thanks. Have any idea what you have up and down on the elevator?

I know you didn't ask me, but I'll tell ya anyway. Aerfly Pro

It is an invaluble tool IMO. It really got my left thumb working. You can learn Rolling harriers, knife edge, and inverted High alpha very easily. I bought it to train my left thumb- and it's working! I am currently learning inverted high alpha- steering with the rudder reversed is crazy!

Hey Kyle, I finished my Fun 90 last night. Hopefully John W. and I will get together today and maiden it. I went with the OS160. Think this plane is gonna rock! I previewed your electric video. Good job and congrats on the sponsorships too.

Thanks Mike. it was nice to see you at the expo. Hope all goes well on the funtana.

I fly Mode 2 (i think). Rudder and trottle on left, aileron and elevator on right.

For training I use G2. so far it is the best sim I have flone IMO. I flew AFP delux and have G3, and I think G2 is the best so far. It's a little harder to 3D on G2 than for real.. So, if you can learn to control harriers with no wing rock on there, then you should have no problem for the most part in real life with a 3d plane. At least thats how I feel about it. I fly G3 and its more for just screwing around, than learning stuff. AFP (to me) felt fake. Made everything way too easy.

All are good sims and I'm sure you can learn a lot from each of them. All my freinds swear by AFP and don't care for G3 or G2. At the same time I know people that love G3 and dont like AFP. I think just about any sim out there that will let you fly some 3d is a huge help in learning the real thing, they will all get you use to the same stick movements to do the same thing.

What about Reflex XTR? That's what I have, and I think it really helps a lot. I too, am having a helluva time with the inverted high alpha stuff. That darn rudder stick always goes the wrong way!!!!! I've got the Funtana in reflex pretty well dialed in, but it's never going to be perfect. I can make it look like Kyle's plane in his videos, but just for a few seconds at a time!!!
