Hi Maarten,

I'm enjoying your forum. I check it daily for new replies.

I know you've been flying for about three years. Could you tell me a little about your training methods? How long did it take you to learn torque rolls or rolling harriers? Did you use Aerofly every evening? One hour a day for several months?

I've seen your Shocky videos. You are clearly as good at real planes as you are on the simulator. How smoothly was your transition to real models? Was it fairly seamless or was there a transition period?

Regards,
Tom

Tom,

I've flown two years with trainers, CAP232, Hype 3D . Then I bought aerofly pro. I could hover and torqueroll after a year, but If I had more money it would have been a lot sooner.
I learned rolling harrier on aerofly pro. I also learned to fly very smooth and sharp on aerofly pro, because the models are perfectly build and have the best engine and fastest servo's I could dream of. I learned alot of things on aerofly pro whoch I couldn't learn in real because I didn't had the planes and stuff. The first 9 months I had aerofly pro there was marked 120 hours flight time on my TX , then I lost my tx in a fire. Now I have again 20 hours I think. So after 140 hours of flying in one year and 4 months on aerofly pro you can do some stuff with the planes

Maaten, sorry about your fire I hope nobody was hurt.

I have been flying every night with my AFP/D and I found many great downloads. I am interested in designing my own planes and scenery can you tell me where to learn how to edit or build scenery and which software package may be needed to create planes and scenery? Do you know where to download this stuff?

also I tried loading your shockflyer settings and have been tweaking them to fit my own shocky. I have been having a hard time getting a sustained hover. can you post a more detailed list of your shock flyer settings? I haven't flown a real plane since getting AFP however I can hover my shocky better in real life. Although I do believe overall the simulator will make me a better pilot.

Thanks for all the great info Maarten

Maarten,

It's good to know that you worked very hard to get so good. I thought maybe you were born that good...kidding. Seriously it's good to know that we can practice and learn some of the cool things that you've showed us. I can tell you that because of you I've learned some things I thought I could never do. Of course it took me many hours of crashing but it's getting better. I am about 3/4 of the way to doing that torque rolling circle. I just have to get it to go in a good circle right now. Again, thanks for creating the cool tricks that we can all learn from and get better. Somebody's gotta keep the level up there, and that's you my friend!!!

Later,
Joe

Thanks Joe

Whack, Do you use the same expo settings as me in your tx? If this doesn't help, maybe you should put your CG a little bit backwards.

BWD,

Just assign the flaps to your dissired channel and then there shouldn't be a problem. If they still work as aillerons reverse one of your flaps.

Hi Doc, if you have time, could you tell me what a good set up for this plane would be,

http://aeroflypro.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=83

I use this plane because the only plane I have is a twist with a saito .72, and I want to simulate the small .40 size aircraft as best I can. Thanks for your time

Shawnlh, I'll test this right away.

Listen up guys! Most of you will have noticed that the extra330s in aerofly pro deluxe tends to fly a loop if you fly uplines at full power and you also have to apply a lot of downelevator when you fly on your back. I've been testing a bit and these are my new settings: Wing incidence: 0° stab incidence: 0° engine downthrust: 0.5° right thrust 0° max power: 10Kw She flies more realistic with these settings. Just trimm her for level flight at FUll power and then she should be flying nice uplines and downlines. She flies better inverted too.

Shawnlh, I've tested this plane a bit, I only increased the propwash of the rudder to 60 instead of 50 and I decreased power a bit to make it more realistic.

I also mixed rudder- elevator 8% and rudder-ailleron 5% to make her ( the extra 330s ) fly perfect.

What's up Maarten? I went indoor flying a few days ago unsing my shockflyer edge. I bought a new LittleScreamer CD ROM motor wow what a thrill. Here's a shot of the Little Screamer and a modification to the landing gear.

I have been trying to get the Extra 330S to fly close to my 40% Carden 330S. I have already changed the wing and stab incidence to 0.0 as per the model. I set the right thrust to 2.0 (my real one has 2.5, but AFPD won't accept 2.5 only 2 or 3)

DA says the 150 has 16.5 hp, so I set AFPD to that number, but it seems a bit too much.

But Prop . . . I like a 32 10 (as is standard) but I don't know if the prop settings are for 2 or 3 blade and there is no way to change that . . . and that makes a HUGE difference in real life.

Is there any way we can play with this? By the graphic I assume it is a three blade only, so I set the prop to a 28.5 12 which is the best mej for this engine . . . any idea's?

Rob
