Status: offline 		I'm on the other side of the globe so it'll be February before mine arrives. Thanks Jeff for reminding me about cooling. Still, I hate to cut up the beautiful cowl and I'm waiting to see how you guys build up your 580s. Some nice pics later on will be really helpful.

I'm real worried about the weight. What a pity.

Status: offline 		Well when I got home last night it was there.... I didn't give it a good going over but it looks good.... I think I can get away with the saito 100 after pinning the firewall and adding a little bracing .... i pitched the ca hinge material and I think I will glass the wing together for good measure. Also I will have to cut some openings in the front of the cowl for cooling... along with the other cuts to get the saito in should be enough. After I finish the Funtana tonight I will take some pictures and post them along with anything else I find, maybe I can weigh the peices and see what this thing will weigh in at.

I will keep you guys posted.

Status: offline 		I got mine today. Its a good quality kit, but it is pretty heavy and the wings are tiny... Im guessing its going to be a bit tough on landings but we'll see.... Im hoping to fly it this weekend, ill post some results if I do.

Status: offline 		Hey, sounds great. I am curious to find out how it flies. I have my saito 82 mounted and the wings together. So I am moving along on it. To bad I have a foot of snow on the ground here. I was able to fly new years day though, off the frozen lake by my house. Our club got together and had a blast. first flying we had done since the weather turned bad.

It looks to me like the only part of the cowl I am going to have to cut is for the valve covers. It looks like they will be the only part sticking out of the cowl-- and not by much either. I may just cut a slot right by those holes for the glow starter too. we'll see how it goes. As for the exhaust, now that I have the engine mounted I can see using one of the silicone extension tubes to put it out the bottom. There is a big cut out area in the bottom where the cowl does not cover, just a few inches from where the stock exhaust would end up. I am not sure how much power one of these extensions will rob, but it seems to be the easiest solution. I may also eliminate the stock exhaust and extend it right from the threaded coupling off the motor. Any thoughts on that?

Status: offline 		Ya, I had a few thoughts on the pressure line as well. I have read how some people use small copper tubing as exhaust. If I eliminate the stock muffler and go to some kind of tubing, I was thinking of making a small pressure tap off from it. I am not sure which way I'll go yet. I was just wondering about other peoples thoughts are on using the silicone exhaust extensions vs. an open open exhaust. Big power loss or gain either way??

Status: offline 		Well I have the deflectors on my corsair ...edge and funtana and did not noticed a power loss when I installed them. I know some people say there is one due to the restriction of the exhaust? if so I didn't see it in my case.

I was just looking at great planes web site and saw this plane. I was thinking it would be a really good fit for an os 91 or ys 110!!
but from what I've been reading here, I think I will stay away. Sounding kinda scary for me. Especially the landings. LOL. Needless to say for me landings are torcher. This plane sure does look really nice though. I like the way it is covered. Hope it works out well for all of you who decide to take the bait.

Status: offline 		Saito makes a flexible muffler with pressure tap that you can bend at a tight 90. I put one on my V.F. sukhoi and it fit under the cowl . I don't have the part number anyl onger but if you call Horizon they will.

Status: offline 		Ok, I am getting close now. I have it all ready except for radio gear. I put it on the scale with the radio gear and it comes in at 6lbs. 2oz.

Status: offline 		No I have not balanced it yet. I want to get all the radio gear installed first. When I get it all set and balanced I will re weigh it and let you know the final weight.

Has anyone had one up in the air yet? How does it fly? It being winter here in Michigan I am not sure when I will get mine in the air.

Status: offline 		I haven't flown mine yet.... still working on it. Just got my servos and MPI switch in today I am shooting for next weekend. I bought a new mount for the Saito 100 and have held it up and think it is going to be ok...after I pin the firewall. Yours is looking good Ace and I am looking forward to seeing what yours weighs in at with the radio in.

Status: offline 		No, read my post again, I did not have them installed. I did put all the radio gear on the scale. Everything that is needed except fuel was on the scale.

Status: offline 		Was wondering if you were going to brace the tail plane had a graupner extra 300s, where the tail plane broke in normal flight. Was poor quality balsa though. Are the materials of this kit up to the job.

Any idea when it is going to hit the uk either.

I have no plans to brace it. This looks to me like a nice, well built plane. I did put a little more epoxy on the firewall to beef it up but thats about it.

Status: offline 		I took a look down the fuse with a mini mag and it looked good... the build looked good all in all to me at least they didn't skimp on the glue from what I saw.

Status: offline 		Got everything in today and I will try to get some video on our site after this coming weekend. I finished the wings tonight and started working on the stabs so I should have this thing done before Sat. Ace did you get the radio and linkage in yet? I'm not real thrilled with the way they have the elevators hooked up in the fuse... Let us know how that went.
