Hi Mark........

sorry for the delay in my reply.

Just want to clarify....... you want the head clearance for a SJ-120 or for a 120 Lite ??

I will have to double check with Dub for both. But I seem to recall my SJ120 was set about .025.

Let me confirm the correct setup.

Bob

Ok....... I wasnt far off.

Dub sets the SJ-120 engines typically at .030" as they are shipped. They run very well there.

I was wondering what initiated your post ? Are you reassembling the engine ? Or do you have a performance issue you are trying to correct ?

Bob

Actually I am working with another manufacturers engine and could not get any specs out of them. You guys are very much the performance builders out there so thought I would find out what you set your motors up at. The motor in question is at .045 with no shims. Throttles poorly and shows signs of detonation on the piston. I want to get the squish clearance in the right area then play with the combustion volume. My background is in water cooled .45 motors and was not sure how much clearance these big motors needed.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark......

sounds like you have a handful there. Glad I could be of some help.
