I pulled the engine out of a Ryobi blower< these have the lonh shaft engine and seem to put more rpms than the weed cutter, it's just my guess, you can buy the blower from Harbor Freight at $59.95

Echo 23.6cc Or Toro 25cc.

Both are great engines turn a 16 x 8 prop 9000rpm with a little work.

The Echo can be had for free is you go begging at small engine repair shops.
I've collecter about 40 of them and 40% of those the piston and cylinder were in great shape.
The Toro can still be had at E*ay for $40.00 or less bran new.

Run them on Gas/Glow and never look back.

hello everyone.i have a featherlite 25cc weedeatermotor that i am converting to fly my super decathlon.im having tuning issues with this engine,as the needle valves are right behind the prop. is there a carb that i can purchase that will have the needle valves out of harms way. im running an 18by8 prop.if anyone has any info or away to get it tuned your responses will be greatly appreciated. thanks. We shut the engine down to adjust the needles and then start it back up to see how it runs.

those featherlite engines have very mild port timing, an 18x8 prop is going to be too big to get it in a happy point, I would go with a 16x6 or 16x8 myself.

are you using a larger carb? I'll try to look over what I have and see if any would work on one of those.

They do look challenging with the way the crank case is made. I just have never seen a 26cc conversion with this engine.

The blower has a ling shaft and makes a nice engine. The crankcase is magnesium, cut off all unnecessary parts. I just zip it off with an bandsaw then clean up on a disk sander. They clean up real nice. As far as the goofie carb angle you will need to make of buy a different intake manifold. I figure that is a necessary step in almost all conversions. Just use some 1/4 to 1/2" plastic or phenolic board.

I have a Featherlite 18cc and a 22 cc,a least that's what's on the trimmer plate. They both have spring mufflers. I also know a guy who got a few 25cc from a salvage yard and would sell them.Would the Featherlite 25 cc with bolt on muffler be a better engine to convert than the Homelite 25 cc ?

In reality, the Weedeater engines are very low quality, and low power. Better to go with almost any other engine in my opinion. I repair lots of yard equipment, and most of the time the Weedeater products aren't worth trying to save...

A Homelite would weigh more, but be a far better engine. Better yet would be an Echo.
