I have read volumes on here about both engines..So much so, that I am at a loss of which to use!

I have a Lanier F-4 ARF (40-46). I am no master tuner either..(Rossi??)

Any thoughts? Please keep it between these 2 engines No Jett comments ($$) or someone trying to convince me that the OS 46FX outperforms these 2

Later,
james

The Rossi has lots of power but only at high rpms. If you try load it down it won't out do a 46FX but let it wind up and look out. Not hard to tune, just use 5% nitro and a Enya #3. It is heavy but for speed it's not that important.

I have not owned the YS 45 that long. From what I see so far it is not as powerful as the Rossi but not by much. It does have the pump but thats more important for aerobatics.

So far I like them both

I fly the Rossi (rear exhaust) 45 powerhouse on a Morris Fun Design and I consider it exetremely reliable and it always runs wire to wire. I use a 12x4 APC prop, 10% Cool Power, the Rossi rear mounted tuned muffler, and the OS glo plug. It is a very noisey engine but turns the prop at close to 13,000 rpm. I'm not sure I have it tuned for max usable rpm. I need to say another club member has the exact same plane and engine and is not satisfied with the engine although he is constantly messing with it even when he has it running well. There are many YS 45 SE's (performance Specialty mufflers) and RE's at our field in warbirds and all are quite powerful.
