It's been a while since I've posted here, but I thought some of you may get a kick out of this. My kids and I put together this video over the new year's holiday. It runs approx. 4 minutes and has lots of different camera angles including onboard using a micro camera. The background music from Smartsound is pretty good too.

The figure 8 race track was made from Bluecor Fanfold Foam insulation. My daughter painted it with paints found at Wal-Mart. It probably cost about $3.00 - $5.00 including the Fanfold sheet, paint and hot glue. Size is approx. 2' x 4'. We also have a 4' x 4' bash arena and are working on a 2' x 4' oval. Later on we'll do a road course or maybe just a city street setting for just bashing around. I'll post some pictures on my web page one of these days.

In the mean time, here's the video:

Dial-up - (2.9mb) http://www.dadsfunpage.com/videos/ZipZaps8_lo.wmv
Hi-Res - (9.9mb) http://www.dadsfunpage.com/videos/ZipZaps8_md.wmv
Very Hi-Res - (41.4mb) http://www.dadsfunpage.com/videos/ZipZaps8_vhi.wmv

There're a bunch of other videos on my web page - http://www.dadsfunpage.com

Enjoy!

That was pretty cool. Looks like you guys had fun. That track was cool too. Where could I find the materials to make that track at?
I especially liked the camera angle where it was on the car..I got kinda dizy though.

I got a lot of onboard video before editing, but scrapped a lot of it due to the dizzy factor. A little is o.k., but you do want to sit back from your monitor a bit.

The bluecor comes from Lowes. It's about 1/4 inch thick and comes in a big bundle (50 sheets I think) for about $25 or so. I use it to build RC airplanes so had a lot on hand.

dj - see if you can get your dad to throw out the t.v. That's pretty much what we did and now we do a lot of cool stuff like this together. We don't even miss it anymore.

If you liked that one you may want to check out FaykeTona. It's onboard Hotwheels XV racers. Dad and the kids had lots of fun with that one too.

Yep, that sounds a lot like me about 5 yrs ago.

That Mini-T aught to be pretty wild with a motor like that. I have one too and made a video with it, but it's not really that great. I took a break from installing a floor in my dining room and just bashed around sliding all over the floor with it.

Great videos. If you haven't seen them be sure you check 'em out. Answers in Genisis is right on the mark as well.

The kids and I made another video a while back the you may enjoy. It's an oval race this time. It's a much easier track for them to drive as the figure 8 was tight and required a lot of concentration. You may have noticed the only cars turning consistant laps were the Orange Mustang and the camera car both driven by dad.

The oval has wider lanes and some straights. We'll be building either a large D oval or a road course next, but first our XMODS video is in the works.

Here's the ZipZaps SE oval race for your viewing enjoyment!
