A loaded ESV will discharge the normal 600 mah pack in appx 1 1/5 to 2 hours. Its not really a safe thing to do... as you can easilly dioscharge to the point of reversing the polarity of one or more cells. Once you've drained a NiCd to that level, you have seriously damaged it. Yo really don't need to play with deep discharges or cycling the batteries. Just use the system every month and then charge overnight if you aren't flying due to the seasonal weather in your area. (I'd be flying in the snow anyway though... ) The batteries should have a 3 to 5 year lifespan without even bothering with the monthly draining and charging... I've NEVER used a cycler, and I've never had a battery last less than 4 years since the 1970's. (when getting more than a year out of a set was doing very good by anyones standards...)
