Gaspasser, after you connected the micro adapter to ikarus male, take it back out a little bit, there is an incompatibility. In a certain position , it begins to work ( yes I know it is a pain in the ... ). You can check when it works from the calibration menu.

Maybe your cord is shorting. Check the stereo jack side of the USB cable. You can unscrew the jack out of the plastic case and look at the soldering and the 2 wires. Make sure they are not frayed or broken and the solder is holding firmly with no movement.

Mine worked great right out of the box, but today it started acting up. I noticed the jack on the AFPD usb cord was loose at the radio end. So I unsrewed it and found a frayed wire shorting on jack where it was not supposed to. I just moved the frayed wire back into position and it worked again!

Good Luck!

Here's what I did to the AFPD stereo plug (at the end of the USB dongle) to get a solid contact. It only takes a few minutes.

1) Unscrew the plastic back cover of the stereo plug. It will look like in Figure 1. You will note that there is no solder joint between the center lug and the post. This is the cause of intermittent signal connection

2) Apply some solder flux with a toothpick to the corner between the center lug and post

3) With a proper soldering iron, quickly apply some solder between the center lug and post. It will now look like in Figure 2. Careful not to detach the white signal wire by overheating. If it accidentally gets detached, just solder it back to the lug. No big deal.

4) Screw back the back cover.

That's all to it ! Try this and you should be able to get a better connection directly to the radio or via an adapter, depending on your radio type.

Remember to push the male/female connectors all the way in until you hear a "snap"

Hope this helps !

Here is what I have found. The stock cord plug works as should with the XF631 radio. The stock cord does not work with a JR 8103 radio. I have ordered a micro plug.

When I ordered the upgrade the website said I didn't need the JR micro plug for my radios only the new generation. Now the web site says you need the JR micro plug for all JR radios. That isn't correct either.

Seems like the plug you get for JR use should be/match exactly the plug JR uses to connect any equipment JR has like a DSC/ or trainer cord. May have to check with JR to find specks on it. Just a Idea!
