Those are both lower end cards. It would also be better to have a faster 128M card than a slower 256M card.

I recently picked up a FX5500OC 128M card for $30 after rebate, so deals are out there.

Two online sources I've had good service and prices from:

www.newegg.com
www.tigerdirect.com

Personally, I like ATI cards.

Anything 9600 Pro or XT and better shouyld do you. (LE or SE are crippled cards, stay away)

Try to stay at ATI 9600 or greater.

PCPhill,

I'm considering the purchase of a Dell 8400 refurb. w/ Pent4 3.2Ghz They come with the ATI PCI Express x300se 128Mb. And another possibility is a Dell Inspiron 9200 laptop> It has a Pentimum M 745 1.8Ghz 512 Mb ram and an ATI Mobility 9700 128Mb video card. Would either of these machines run AFP Deluxe well?

Thanks,
Jerry

The x300se is absolute bottom of the line for PCIe video cards. The laptop would be faster.

There is a big "but" though. The laptop is pretty much unupgradeable, while the desktop with a PCIe slot can be upgraded to a killer card down the road.

That said, I think you'll be happy with the laptop
