Did you use the stock pull pull rudder hardware?
How close to the tail did you mount the elevator servos? Also how did you reinforce the fuse where you cut out for the servos? Did you beef up the landing gear area?

No can't remember what I used actually, but it wasn't the stuff that came with plane. I threw out most all the hardware, some of it was very questionable to say the least. I have the servos about an inch in front of tail. Pm me with addy and I'll send you pics of set up if you like

How did you mount your canopy? Looks like the instructions suggest gluing it. Sure would be hard to work on the rudder servo! Any pictures of a removable canopy would be great.

I know they made the canopy this way to save weight, but is that a cheesy thing or what?. Did you dye or paint the canopy first?

no, I liked it clear, but yeah, that's cheesey. some guys made their own canopy hatch combo. You can find it I think in this thread. Another guy had put some silicone glue in the front end of the canopy securing it down, and letting it cure, so that it formed a rubberized front end. Said it helped it stay more flush.

I found the screws to be enough.

WHOA! That's way too much. I don't know what could have happened to the plane, but mine was 5 15 with no spinner, but everything else.

What kind of battery etc etc are you using? Is your tank full?

I am running a 5 cell NiCd batt., alum spinner, and test weight was with (2) ds821s in the back for the elevator du-bro pull-pull rudder linkage, du-bro 10 oz fuel tank and a apc 15x4w prop. I am going to try a 1800ma 2s lipo and regulator, (2) hs-5085s in the tail and a plastic spinner. That may get me about 4-5oz off. I have some carbon fiber control rod, but all the rods are so short, i don't think it would be worth the effort I did fuel coat most of the plane, but that was only 1 oz epoxy and 1 oz alcohol and i am sure all the alcohol evaporated.
I know I am at the large end of the engine scale, so I didnt expect the advertised 93 oz but a lbs over does seem to be a bit much.

Mine's 6 1/4 lbs with a Saito 100. I use only one elevator servo - I made a staple to join the elevator halves - and a standard size 4 cell 2000mah NiMH. It has no repairs and no additions.

Yeah, I was running a satio 100. You weighed it without fuel, right?

I did have 1 elevator servo. I used the pushrod method they recommended. I think I had a micro for the throttle. What MAH is your batterY? Somethign isn't right there. I had an apc and everything else you mentioned sounds about the same except ofr spinner, fuel, battery, so that's why I'm asking about those last 2 again

I have finished the 330. Total weight was 6 12oz. I have a 1700mah Nicd batt.6volt. Saito 91 apc 15x4w prop, plastic 2 1/2 dubro spinner, dubro 10oz fuel tank (empty),mini servo on throttle, ds821s on ailerons, hs645mg on rudder, single ds821 on elevator with push stock push stick. I could use a lipo battery and regulator but that will only shave an oz or so.
I must have some Chinese balsa/lead.

Yeah, that's odd. Either the supplier changed or you got a heavy one. Sorry to report that, but I hadn't heard of one coming in that heavy, and like I said, mine was about 5-15 without a spinner. I think I had about the same battery. I didn't have a 645mg, but that's probably only an oz heavier than the ds821 (what i had)

can you think of any other things you may have added to it that would have added weight?

I weighed this thing with a set of digital fish scales I even thought they may be wrong, checked them with a known test weight, and they were very close. My saito is an older one, but I don't know of any changes in them.

oh, no, I mean the fliton airframe. I have an aeroworks 60-90 extra, that I had to pull 11 ounces out of to get it down to 6.38lbs. Other guys are "reporting" theirs was 6.4 with pants and no mods. I don't see how, but mabye they got light ones??

know, I know yours was the fliton, but I'm just saying I had another airframe that people were reporting all different weights. I had mostly seen right around 6lbs with the fliton, but maybe you got a heavier one

Darn it!

This past weekend I crashed the Fliton Extra 330s Freestyle......

This time it's for good, fuse was busted up bad, one wing desintegrated inside, etc....

This was my absolute favorite plane so far, and I have 4 more that currently fly....just no where near as well as the Extra did.

Anyone know where to get another one, New In Box?
