Marcus,
I have been throwing around the idea of scaping the WH SD and going with one of your planes. With the scale changes I am almost doing my own design. But if you are thinking about a 35% peice, now we are in the ball park. You are talking about a ARC or ARF, But I would be in for a kit, building is a big part of why I am in this hobby, your thoughts on the kit subject.
Did you get the CD yet?

Sorry if I didn´t make myself clear, that´s exactly what I was thinking about, selling only kits for foreign customers. Shipping assembled planes will be prohibitive costwise.
Let´s talk about it. PM me on my address.

No,I didn´t receive the CD yet...

Marcus

I have been trying to post photos but there is some bug preventing it. I don´t know what to do...neither with the multi-file uploader nor the normal uploader...
trying again now...but there appear a message like this:
"get error while validating the file: Unable to find file DCxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in C:\Wndows\Temp\Uploader Temp at function ?x2c" when attempting to upload thru the multifle uploader and " 500 internal server error" when attempting to upload thru the normal uploader...

Any thoughts?

Marcus

Marcus, the story has it that RCH has been sold and is in the process of being migrated to another server and platform.
For the last several weeks, it has been nothing but trouble with pictures disappearing (appear as broken links), unable to access the site, dreadful slowness to name a few
Until a few weeks ago, I was a paying subscriber, now I'm waiting to see if the site comes good before I give them any $$$ (I have been a member here since 2003)
Sadly, it looks like it's time to look for another forum

Hi Ari
well this is a new situation for me, I always had a deep respect for this forum the way it was. Let´s hope they fix it quickly so we can go further with this thread.

Meanwhile, what do you think of the idea of my 35% scale SD?

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

I think it's an excellent idea!
I would be quite interested in one of those kits at some stage.

Marcus,
Well it sounds like there are two seriously looking to build a 35% kit. as I have said before, I like the look of your SD. And with a DA 100 the performance would outdtanding.

Greg and Ari, all the others not mentioned by name

I suppose we shall keep this thread close to it´s roots, that is, the building of 30-33% scale Decathlons (sorry, it has evolved to a much broader sense than just dicussing WH design and build specifics) and not make it a commercial tool.

Therefore, for commercial specifics please either visit my HP at marcusmodelfactory dot com and get in touch via email to discuss details.

I will only use this forum to describe my designs, that´s all. Or better yet, as soon as Ken gets his 30% scale kit by February and starts a new building thread on it, migrate to that one. I sure hope the new kids on the block here get back on track again and professionaly solve (AND QUICKLY, OF COURSE!!!) the picture uploading matters. This has been way too good over the years to just let go by now. I´ve been a member for 7 years now and I consider this one my major option on internet fora to discuss modeling matters.

Well, last but not least, I wish you all a really healthy and wealthy New Year. See you guys in 2011. God bless us all!

Marcus

I also want to wish all of you a Happy New Year. In 2011 I will be starting a new build thread showcasing Marcus' 30% Super Decathlon kit. I invite all of you to drop in to share the fun. This will be my 3rd SD and it will be a real pleasure to build one that I don't have to do major modifications to so that it will be true scale.

I also plan to do more flying this year, after the wedding in February followed by a trip to Tahiti.

Interesting that it took that long...

Yep, I know. I am still working on it. Have yet to do the molds, but I am busy finishing a batch of 4 30% SDs.
Will advise soon.

Addendum to last post, I meant to ask what the measurement is of the windshield brace on the full scale airplane? It appears to be, maybe 1" square or so. Any ideas let me know. Joe

Joe
the center brace starts as a tube in a U-shaped bracket at the top cross brace, then makes a curve downwards, as soon as it straightens out it "enters" a square/rectangular shaped profile, which has a lot of rivets on each side. On some pictures is seems to have a soft wrapping around it, like leather or similar. Maybe it´s just an illusion to be soft.
I am enclosing one picture that says it all.

Thanks so much Marcus, that picture is a much better view than the one I have. Any idea what the square measures on the full size, I would like to make it close to the right size. thanks Joe
PS. sorry to keep bugging you, I understand your busy with many projects, but your the "SD man"

I ran out of info this time
Guess the best is to ask one of the SD owners to measure it and possibly taking detailed photographs.

I would guess the tube being 3/4 inch so at 1/3 scale it would be 1/4, therefore the rectangular section would have to be somewhat close to 1/4 x 5/16 or so...as a starting number.
On my 30% prototype I used about 3/16 x 1/4 or so...

Important: it doesn´t touch the windshield.
Also: Citabrias and Scouts don´t have it.

Hope this helps.

Marcus
P.S. thanks for the nice compliments.

If I had my other computer I could probably give you a photo of what you need from Greg Koontz's full size decathlon. Our RC club is actually located on the base leg of his full scale runway in Ashville Alabama. I get to see him fly his decathlon as well as his piper cub doing aerobatics quite a bit. During his airshows he lets people get an up close look at his planes, while their parked on the ground, to take all the pictures you want.

Guys

I updated my homepage with an English page, go to marcusmodelfactory dot com and on the left side button bar the last one is a link to the english description of my model - and prices - kits only, no ARFs. I now accept pay pal.

I am currenty finishing the 1st of a batch of 4 SD still at the 30% scale, the next ones will be at 35% scale.
Posting only one pic since there is no much difference from all the others...

That is a very nice website Marcus. The English Page is a very good addition. The galleries are excellent. You might want to change the target text on the home page to "English Page" instead of "Page Ingles".
More ice and snow today. When I went to bed it was 48 degrees F and when I woke up it was 16 degrees F.
