    Jeff,
Regarding the triangle at F5; if you look at the full scale photos you and I posted the covering is scalloped slightly there. If your not too far ahead on this area you might consider estimating what shape the shrunken fabric might take without the triangle and replace it with 1/32 ply curved to desired shape. Do you know what I mean?I just think that the flat balsa triangle is not going to flow rearward without being obvious once you cover.

    Newflee,

    Thanks for additional tips..

This being my first 33% bird I'll be happy to be pretty close to scale !

All suggestions and comments are welcome.

    I hear ya Jeff.

Actually mine is not going to be a super duper scale project either. I will make some changes but exact scale would be unnecessary for most including myself. I usually add small details over the years of the models existence. After beginning construction it has become apparent that the thickness of the fuse sides will be the largest barrier to building this big bird to scale unless a complete redesign is performed.
I hope to be adding some building pics as you have very soon. My cowl and wheelpants are to arrive tomorrow. I can't wait.

    Hi all,
My cowl and wheelpants arrived today. I have to take some time to check for scale outline and such but my immediate impression is that more time could have been spent preparing the plug for these parts. I feel that a really good quality part should require a little trimming and paint and off you go. This is not the case with these parts. A nice finish is going to require a little more filling, sanding etc. than I expected.
The parts are very light weight if that is what you are looking for and no air bubbles are included. I would prefer another layer of glass myself.
All that said, Stan's was good to deal with and the parts are acceptable for the price. I just think that especially with moulded parts, a little more time on the plug pays off with every part pulled thereafter. This is something that software writers should think about as well.

Now I'm rollin on this project.

Nice plane I really like flying it.

Well I see you took the easy way out with the wingtips. I like em and was afraid of how they would look kinda squared off. Thanks for the pic. Please post any others that you have. I can't tell, did you install flying wires on the tail?

    Thanks,
    Kendall

Speaking of the Dynaflite Decathalon, here is another shot of mine in Citabria scheme at the QSAA event in Las Vegas, the same weekend as TOC. Wingtips are slightly less pronounced. Fabric covering and painted.

Here is another pic a little closer up. It is hard to see but yes there are wires on the tail surfaces.

This one has a Brison 2.4 with Bisson Pitts muffler. It sounds great at idle.

I like the Citabria paint scheme. Nice job!

    'We Are Going Vertical Mav'

Shortly after this pic, the SD 'hovered' for about 30 seconds. The picture taker is my witness.

    Great flying airplane.

I am currently building a Dynaflight Super Cub (Saito 270 twin) and another SD.

These Dynaflight kits do fly well.

I have an aircraft named Cloudniner from RCM plans (Bill Winter). The tips on the wing are sanded to give washout. I do all of my aircrafts tips in this way when possible. I must admit it is not difficult to do, but I do like the way they turn out. The top maintains the airfoil shape while the bottom is carved and sanded up to that shape.

P.S. I tinted the windscreen and side windows with Forest Green Rite dye and a little rock salt for about 10 hours. Looks great with the yellow covering.
