Luke,do you still have parts for this hellcat,Ineed a canopy and gear doors.I installed your stuff on my frist hellcat and they looked great.

Yes I too would like to buy some replcement parts I need a canopy and center tank. Luke I hope you still have parts left.

I'm bashing a CMP 140 size P-51 and have been watching the work you guys have done with this plane with great interest. I've held off on glassing the wing and had been leaning toward using water based poly to do the wing. I've used the thinned Zpoxy method before on smaller parts, but not a whole wing. My question is, do you have to pretreat the wing with anything before you use the thinned Zpoxy method? The reason I ask is I am very afraid of warping the wing. I've put both thinned Zpoxy and water based poly on test balsa and both methods have caused the balsa to curl up a little. When usng the poly method you definately need to seal the wing first with a few coats of sanding sealer.

If you lay a piece of balsa on the table without a supporting structure then it will curl, that is not a realistic test. You do not have to do anything to the wood before you apply the thinned epoxy.

To everyone who has been following this thread and wanted parts, I have new parts. Sorry about my absence, but you know how life goes don't you? I've been doing other things, no modeling at all, but now I'm back and I've even been getting a lot of flying in the last few weeks, so I feel pretty good!

I wanted to get the Hellcat parts up on the web site a week ago, but I've been busy with my own projects, so it's not all bad! I have about 20 of everything, cockpits, drop tanks, wheel covers so when they are gone I can't guarantee when I'll ever make more if I do. I have other project I want to move on to.

I have really enjoyed seeing the pictures here and there of some of these Hellcat projects, this thing has been so much fun, even though I didn't finish mine! I plan on being at the field this weekend, so maybe I'll update my site on Monday to give people a chance, I have no idea how much will sell, I'd like to clear my shelves to make room for other things though!

Happy flying or building depending on where you are this weekend!

Hi there,
Well I took your advice and picked up Saito 125 4 stroke. It’s 10oz lighter then the 120 so that’s a plus.
I’ve been reading all the posts about glassing the wings etc. So what happens if I just assemble the plane as is? The only rework I see is for the Century landing gear.
I’ve seen some of the CMP planes at the field and the covering chips or cracks. Would it be advisable to spray the whole thing with something to protect the paint? And what would I use?

Hi all, thanks for the PM’s and your interest in my Hellcat parts. Prices will be on my site, it will all be the same, no changes.
Shubova, I think the stock finish on this thing sucks, there is no way I would leave it as is. The main problem with the wing was that it was not scuffed up at the factory before painting. Clear coating it will just add weight and I don’t think it would help that much. I can’t really help you with the stock plane, sorry.
My Hellcat needs to have the colors sprayed on the wings and a clear coat, I’ll have it ready for the spring for sure.
Doesn’t seem to be as much interest in the parts this last round, so I anticipate that everyone that wants something will get it no problem. Here are some pictures of what I have to offer:

# 1, 2, Cockpit, templates included for installation
#3 is the finished cockpit
#4 Drop Tank, Gear Doors and Dummy Radial
#5, 6 Is how my plane looks
#7 Canopy

I would like to see more pictures of other peoples projects, or even video if you have it posted on YouTube, please let us know!

Hi Luke. WOW ! your plane looks beyond awesome. I'm on my second one since I crassed my first one on the maiden.CG was way off.any way how soon will you have the parts on your site and is it still the same zollnermodels.com ?
