Aeromodeller review, Aug, 1997. CL version, no muffler. Peak torque 29+ oz/in at 17,000 RPM, Peak bhp .56 at 20,000 RPM. APC props: 9x4 - 13,100, 8x6 - 12,800, 8x4 - 16,200, 7x6 - 16,500, 7x4 - 19,300, 7x3 - 22,800. Looks like a high-power screamer. Actually 13,100 on a 9x4 is usable power from a 15.

erik58,

How did you break yours in?

If it's pretty new, you may find some tips here:

Since the MVVS is ABC I plan on a small amount of bench time and then mount it on a Mini Telemaster.

If you're referring to the Hobby Lobby kit-----------

I have a Hobby Lobby Mini-Telemaster. It is well powered for it's inherent flight envelope by a geared Spd. 400 electric motor. It would be adequate with a rather anemic Cox Golden Bee if built to plan. It was designed as a lightly built electric or very small glow engine powered trainer or sport flyer. As such it has no excess structure or strength beyond what is required to perform within the designed flight envelope. It is a delight when flown within that envelope.
The MVVS .15D is one of the very few high performance diesels available without resorting to limited production engines designed solely for competition purposes. It would be better suited to the Telemaster 40 than the Mini-Telemaster. Frankly I would't be surprised if the Telemaster 40 with the MVVS .15D in the nose wouldn't perform better than the Mini-Telemaster with a Golden Bee.
Are you familiar with the term, "rip the wings off of it"?
YMMV, Tom

Ralph,
Perhaps they have changed things but my MVVs glow .15 is ABC, and both my MVVS .15 diesels are iron/steel.

I sure like the 40 size Telemaster and the Senior so the Mini is built with sheeted fuse and flaps and ailerons, looks to be about 30 oz.with HS 85's and engine. Rip the wings off ? Nah. It's ABC George.

FWIW here are the rpm figures for my MVVS 15 Diesel. With a APC 9x5 prop it turns 10800, APC 8x5=12400, MAS 8x4=12900 and on a MAS 8x3 it turns 14000+. 14000+ means it got to loud and smokey in my shop to fine tune it any more. I have the tuned muffler on it but I don't know how tuned it is. It does quiten it down quite a bit. When Tom from Buzzards Bluff comes in to town, I'll have him to run it as he is my local Diesel Guru. He can fine tune them a lot better than I can. More later.

Hey George I'm glad to see that you are right about the iron /steel assy. This thing had such a taper and a good ABC squeek that I assumed wrongly.
Thanks, Ralph

On the tuned muffler, you may find that the silicone exhaust seal where the muffler connects will swell...mine did.
I run mine as side exhaust. I intend to replace the seal with a neoprene "O" ring, but it may not take the heat. We'll see.

When I broke my two .15 diesels in, I used the short, peak runs as described at the Canadian site. Each run was terminated by pulling the fuel line (as described). This is important so as not to disturb the heat cycling activity. After about 10 heat-cycles each, they were ready for planes. They may improve with additional running, but that will be normal runs in a plane.
Mine are now "older" models with the natural aluminum polished heads.

George
