Hi,

My ST G90 recently decided to do something funny. It has been running niccely up to this point, but what happened was I went to take-off and I heard a knocking noise from the engine, so I shut it down. Pulling the head off I found metal pieces in the engine, a chip out of the piston, and various scratches on the head.

I have been running a 13x6 or 8 prop, 10% nitro, 20% oil, and like I said before no problems until now. The engine is second hand, has had quite a bit of running, and has a new conrod in it.

The question I ponder on is why it did this? I think it may off not been warmed up enough, as it was a little cold that morning. Also, what do I need to get to get the engine going again? The liner seems ok, no scratches or anything, so I assume a new piston and ring will be what it needs?

Thanks for your time,

Stefan

A bunch of things could be possible to cause your engine's piston to lose a piece of metal...It could have been a bad piston casting or foreign object damage. Not known.

Close examination of the engine should show if it's had foreign object damage. If nothing can be determined, then the warranty should cover it. You may with to discuss this with your regional SuperTigre distributor:

If your engine was purchased in the U.S., then send it to us.
