I am just wondering if I have a lower voltge battery will the battery die as fast or at the same time?

I am running a 3S lipo on a axi 2208/26. Maybe you guys don't know it but it doesn't really matter. I am thinking of makingthat engine run on a 2S lipo, but I want to know if the battery is going to last longer or shorter or the same.

I think longer because, correct me if i am wrong, there is less energy givin to the engine so doesn't take the same amount.

Thanks a bunch in advance

Yes, it will last longer, but you're reducing the input voltage to the speed control/motor from 11.1v to 7.4, and the thrust from the motor will be drastically reduced. Adding a pack of the same size in parallel will give you longer(almost double) run time at the same power output.

Yes that I know from experience. But with all the power I have, I can easily take away some of it. Does anyone knowif it's going to last 1/3 of the time longer or longer. Cause less voltage now i know that it will last longer. But i was used to 11.1 volts. Now I am going to 7.4 volts. Thats 1/3 of the power reduced. So I think it will last 1/3 longer.

Am I right? Correct me if I am wrong. Don't mind the help at all

Thanks

If you were drawing the current through a fixed resistance, that might be a reasonable estimate. In the case of a flying plane, you will no doubt be flying with the throttle open more at the lower voltage and total flying time might well be significantly less. For given performance, you have to look at watt-hours and with the right combination of hardware, you could get the same performance but with only 2/3 of the duration. Power is watts and with reduced voltage you need more amperes for the same power-to-prop.

All other things being equal,3 cells will give twice the power of 2 cells(power being proportional to V squared)Therefore you will be flying at at at a wider throttle opening to get the same performance, hence usung more current when flying on 2.Unless you want to cruise around economically you will get a somewat shorter duration with 2 than with 3 cells.Lipo cells are so light ,its usually best to go for the higher no. of cells, always assuming your ESC/motor combo can take it.Rember 3 cells will hold 50%more energy than 2,it depends how you use it
