I have three of the US AirCore Colts - all given to me by a friend who flew them for years then had to get rid of them to make room for other planes.

AirCore planes are never the best flyers, they are very heavy and can be sluggish, you need a big engine with some power. The upside to Aircore is that they are very tough, yo can plow them into the ground and they will come back for more. My buddy dove his into the ground at full throttle and the plane was back in the air the next day.

The planes look OK, but will get beat up over time, the graphics do fade and they can get washed away with fuel and windex.

Very good planes to learn on, and good planes to fly when the weather is bad or the landings are rough. Great early in the season.

My flying buddy flew a Colt for years. I learned to fly on the high wing
trainer. I feel they are the best planes to learn to fly with. Very, very durable.
I flew my high wing with a .46 & it was great. We both retired our Air Core's a
few years ago. I tried giving mine away with no takers. I needed the space &
threw it out.

A guy brought a Colt to the field a few weeks ago. That is a great flying plane.
I think my buddy may buy another one just to putter around with.

The graphics do fade, but really good planes. Just team up with an experienced
pilot with a trainer cord.

Good Luck!

i have an aircore 40 and a colt 40 and i love the colt 40 i have a gms 47 on it and the thing will hover! i have crashed the colt at least 4 times very hard and it still knife edge loops! i can tell you that i have saved a lot of money learning aerobatics on the colt 40 the thing spins like crazy, all you need is a strong motor. probably the most important part of building an aircore is the wing. the thing is not a pattern flyer by any means but it will do just about anything including hover, i have people at the field that can not believe that this thing is doing that. i have heard from alot of people that these aircore airplanes are crap but friend i will swear by them.

ps the darn colt lands slower than the trainer and my colt has the shortened wing

I've got several pics of my AirCore 40 posted on my website at:

http://www.vlsdynamics.com/rc/planes/us_aircore40.htm

As far as the pre-painted finish goes, I spray painted mine with LustreKote flat-clear fuel-proof paint. Seemed to do the trick because my paint job is holding up fine after one season.

I was thinking a getting a Colt myself, mainly as a durable, low-wing, tail-dragger trainer.

I MISS MY US AIR CORE PLANES,,,,every once in a while,,,the thought that the very first us air core family trainer, that i bought used from a friend of mine for 175 rtf all i needed was a field box,,,i thought i could figure this thing out(like an idiot),,,but that first plane took too many to count tumbles and cart wheels and a few dozen props(46 or bigger is a must for any of them even the jet with a tuned pipe),,,but the number is I crashed it full throtle NINE times befor i had to buy a new one and ask for help,,,,,but my colt ended up i allowed a friend to fly it and he lost it in some trees ,,,the plane puked out the power cartrage but the plane has a part of that tree,,,,,some fellows cut it down and claimed it but the radio and engine i had ,,,my garage is littered with parts and pieces to many us aircore trainers and colts,,,the one thing that is unfair about them and may fool ya,,is there stabbility,if glued straight and true,no plane, has the slow speed stability,,in a wind you can actually go back ward but at 35 mph winds they just lify straight up (alot of down elevater to keep the nose down ) need less to say very stabble and hard to desrtroy,,(if i could have got that colt down it would still be flying) iam now flying dave patrick extra 330 L like a rail,,but nothing like air core
