ive flowin in boeings, douglases, and airbus, the three main manufactures for the commercail airline industry. Far and away Douglas(DC) takes the cake, it is fast, quiet, and incredibly reliable aircraft. Boeings are slightly worse in both catagories. But Airbus are loud, they vibrate from mechanical things in the aircraft, they are not as ffast as either of the other two, and the seats are crammed. Not to mention that the price of an airbus a320 rivals that of a boeing 727 which is larger, faster, quieter, etc.... This is a nice plane, and its big , almost unnecessarily bi, ut its also not the best ever made, airbus is trying to compete with a boeing 747, which is an old proven design that works. Airbus is simply the toyota of cars, over priced, and poor quality.

At least the rudder stays on Boeing aircraft as they pass through wake turbulence...

Not so, sir. It was made by Marshall Petain's grandson, down in Vichy.

So now we're going to argue over the quality of Toyota's cars?
If we are, you're WRONG!

As in pilot them or just as a passenger?
I've been in them all too and to be honest they are all as good as each other. I've been crammed in a 747, but I've also been very comfortable in another. Same goes for noise. And reliability? I don't know about the small things but the latest aircraft all appear to be very reliable. Its the same for all major manufacturers, Airbus, Boeing and MD.

However, the A380 is doing test flights, and already you know that its 'not the best ever made'......Let me guess, the 787 will be brilliant?

Ooopps yeah I forgot, hence the close French / German relationship in the Airbus manufacturing process.

No, what I've heard is that there's a 6 month delay.

What I've also heard is that FAA is putting pressure onto Airbus by claiming wake turbulence behind a380s is way bigger than behind 747s... Airbus is about to made some measurement the same day (same conditions) behind 777s, 747s and A380s just to make sure FAA is really honest. I'm waiting for their result .

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Thanks sooo much for this service, Airbus. Can you also please come to Roswell and double-check that BIG GOVERNMENT claim there are no hotties hidden in the desert?

We are to trust the corporation to verify the regulatory agency's findings/reports??

What "pressure" is there? Is FAA asking Airbus to make some mods to reduce the wake? Are they stating they will not grant certification?

Experience has proven to me that we are not in an ideal fair world. And YES, definitely, you have the right to question anything, even FAA claims when such big $$$ are at stake. I'm not saying we 'd better believe Airbus or Boeing, I'm saying that if Airbus proposes to make wake turbulence measures in cooperation with any state organization in order to make things clearer, then yes they should be listened to.

Another 6 month delay for A380 announced (at the 11th hour) this week, which will cost Airbus/EADS $2.5B... Singapore Airlines is seeking damages from Airbus and has just gone to Boeing for $4.52B in 787-9s.

Pretty plane, but this is what happens with subsidized companies, whether aircraft manufacturer or health care provider... gotta love capitalism.

Bingo you got it in one. Two huge companies, spending huge amounts of money to design 4 aircraft where just two will do (A380 spec and B787 spec). There's no technology sharing, no research sharing, no nothing, to guarantee that both companies waste as much money as possible to make the same thing, twice. What a waste.

No, who are they?

Really, though, do you view Enron as an example of how capitalism is bad or just plain ol' corruption? I say you'll find Enrons in any socio-political system... in some systems these things are better hidden- anything come to mind??

Do you think if both companies weren't designing "the same thing" that either product would be as good (in many respects)?? Competition makes things better, no? Therefore, I don't see it as a waste. I'm sure glad we have O.S., Moki, Enya, SuperTigre, et. al. all designing the same thing

Competition does not automatically mean a better product. The two companies are spending huge amounts of money both in developing the aircraft, and then trying to 'out do' the other company in the media and to the public. If they were to combine their resources and save the money that they are wasting on designing four aircraft where two are needed, plus all the money wasted in showboating, I guarantee you that two far better aircraft would be designed, and with a lot less money and time being wasted.

By looking at this vid, I assume there was some severe cross winds ... Look at how the pilot uses rudder pedals ... Astonishing !
