Hi guys,

sorry about the delay regarding the KS can.

My set up was to angle the engine to about 7:00 o'clock and use the ks modular header to run the exhaust out of the cowl to the cannister.

The cannister is slung under the belly of the aircraft using mounts made from 1/8" aluminum angle and 1/8" and 1/4" aircraft ply.

check it out here:

When the wing is on the canister is not noticable unless u get down on all fours and look under the aircraft.

for me , and the field I fly at the reduction in noise was worth it.

The aircraft is very quiet. I'm sure the system adds a bit of weight, but the airplane still came out around 24.5 lbs

was it not possible to fit the can in the fuz? i got the cap 232 with a boxer twin on it and have managed to fit two KS cans in the fuz. only short headers but it seems to run and pull ok.

I looked at doing it internal but, couldn't come up with a method that would not require major surgery of the airframe. - not exactly the idea of an arf!

There was also the issue of adequately cooling the pipe. So I decided for ease and simplicity external worked better for me.

Here is a method of cooling the K&S mufflers inside a fuselage.

Nik,

the can is the 89-s , the 87-4 would work just as well but the dealer only had the 89 in stock when I ordered. The only diff is the 89 has a 90d bend at the exhaust exit & the 87 is just a straight exit.

The header is comprised of the flange, 3 x 90d elbows and a straight tube cut to size for a total length of 12" from port to canister.
