I recenty completed building the EAA Headwind (plan CF364 Flying Models) and can't wait to
get it up in the air. One thing that I noticed was that the plans and magazine article does not indicate the rudder and elevator throws (three channel). Does anyone know what the throws are or have a comparible/similiar plane that I could pattern the throws after.

The dimension of the EAA Headwind are 25 in fuse, 38 in wing, weight about 3lbs, wing core about 6.5 in, rudder at widest part 3 in.

Thanks

ZB

Zen,

not sure I can be much help to you, but I'll pass-on what I can. Some years ago I drew-up and built a 90" Headwind. It flew great using throws that would be correct for a Cub. So, for lack of a better idea, you might just want to start with settings appropriate for a Cub, Baby Ace, Pietnpol, ect. Most likely, whatever looks right, will probably work as the Headwind is a sweet natured plane. Good luck with it!

Usually, if you use a max of 20 degrees to start, you'll do OK on initial flights. You'd then adjust the amount of throw to suit the way you want the model to fly.

Rudder usually isn't too critical. Many people just set it up to get as much throw as possible. On a 3-channel model, though, you need to be more careful so that you get enough control but not too sensitive.

Thanks for the advise, I will set the rudder throws to about 1.5" and elevator to about .75" and see how that works for me.

Real quick question..

Now, how do you get rid of Snow?

Thanks

Zen
