Wayne - Tim

thanks for the info on the spoiler. Do you have the specs on it and do you know when it will be available?

Not sure about the specs on the arf. I built the one in the video form plans and I not sure if the plans are still available. The arf should be a good flyer. Mine weighed 9lb 13oz with the heavy motor mount, not sure now, Randy should have it lighter.

Randy what is the basic difference between the big boy and the spoiler? Is the Spoiler the new and improved version of the Big Boy?

the spoiler built to the new smith plans is a new and improved big boy. same size wing with different airfoil, much larger tail featheres and fusslage to handle the larger engines.

I's going through R/C Pilot Withdrawals. Here's the last flight around the first of the year. The wind has been in the 50 to 80 mph rand since and we've gotten 3 more feet of snow. The next 3 winters will be even worse.

Randy, I fired up the TT.39 heli with a 9-6 APC and 5% today. Let it run for about thirty minutes and it turned that prop around 16,400 so you were absolutely right....it has great potential! Will feed it some 30% heli fuel and get an 8-8 and see what it does. The exhaust system is only a mousse can set up I had laying around as well and hasn't been tuned for that engine. I have a pipe for it that I will get on there and tune it for that. Will let you know how it does. Also, it's almost vibration free compared to that darn Evolution .36

Well, I finally did it!!! Put together my Big Boy completely( the last 10% of details are 90% of the time/work). Details are...26SS gasser from Brillelli, Hitec 525MGs (57oz torque) except for rudder( Hitec 645mg ,133 oz torque) and throttle ( futaba 3004 std).
6vol nmh 2400 battery for controls, and 4.8 nicad 1200 for ignition. C&H ignition plus optical kill. Servos for elevator in rear w/ carbon fiber rods and rear rudder servo with external pull/pull. Dry weight is 10lbs-7oz but might use Li-Pos later. Plan to Maiden on Sunday!
I feel pretty good about this plane. Oh Yeah 16x8 zinger for break-in with a beautiful 18-6 Bella prop waiting!
Mike

What's this about me flying above my learning curve, I didn't know that I could learn anything. HA!HA! I see that you guys are bored out of your minds due to lack of good flying weather. I did a little flying Sunday with the FuntanaX, but mostly I was pulling someone out of the mud. I have gotton Randy's last mistake all rebuilt now waiting for money to buy servos and I guess some time this summer I will that the 160ZDZ off of the Edge and put on the Extra. Randy I will be glad to be the one to give you annistedic Friday. I think that I have a big rubber mallet handy.

Hey guys, we flew a bit Sunday in UC. I really like that AW Extra. I am starting to get comfy with it (that's when I usually pull something stupid). The new Fromecos are working nicely. I did get tired of looking at it without a spinner, so now I have a new Pete carbon Ultimate spinner installed. It looks good, and only 3 oz. I offset this weight gain with a new carbon wing tube. I am having a blast with this one! Also got the GeeBee up again with a better CG and it flew like a missle with a malfunctioning guidance system. The straight piped YS is obnoxious. Slow speed handling is non existent. It looks cool in the air on a low knife edge though. It might last longer that the Mach Racer. Hurry up good weather!

Randy, Hope the knee surgery went well for you. I know with the friends around your location, you wont have to worry about putting your planes on the flight line or bring them back. Get well soon. Wayne M.

ok barnes, just because i had a little/big knee surgery does not mean you try and make a move on hot wife. your back couldn't take it anyways.
thanks for the support guys, it has been going pretty good so far. i got out and ran around with TimG this morning so now i'm back on the couch letting the swelling go back down around the knee. i should be back running marathons in a few weeks.
