XXS, I am excited for you! Maiden flight day shouldn't need a second cup of coffee to get going, or a first. There have been interesting photos to follow here and thanks for a very cool build thread! Instead of saying good luck, I'll just say," have fun".

Named the plane today " CHILL FACTOR" because it gives me goosebumps. John Weidman did the graphics.

Good point, post 50 you can see the ni rod is glue the length of the rib and the 2 56 thread end that connects to the clevis is about 3" long, deep inside the yellow part of the ni rod. Elevons are in the pull motion for up witch is good, i dont think this will be a issue but thanks for your concern. dave

reminds me of an Unlimited Hydro in some ways The engines look like they are at the ends of the sponsons!

DROOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL.............. !!

Hey...there we go. Gotta build another one -- maybe put a stab across the vertical fins......and put the Miss Budwiser colors on it!

I just went to Dave's,and saw it in person for the first time.It is completely off the faaargin hook.Barely bigger/heavier than a regular Diamond Dust.I'm convinced it will ROCK.It made such an impression,Dave and I had to go drink beer and talk about it for 3 hoursafterward.I'm stoked!!

That is just beautiful, sleek, smooth, looks like its doing 200 just sitting there! I especially like the way the canopy covers the fuel cell and all servos are under the deck gives it a super clean look like a custom rod.
You did seal the hinges didnt you? How fast do you think it will be going??

Yes the hinges are seal with clear vinyl, and how fast i can only say the 2 JETT 50 will put out about 6 hp, the plane weights 6 lbs. the props will be in the range of 8 x 10 @ 19,000rpms. I think it will do 220 striate up as long as you want, if anyone has a thought regarding speed using the above info i would be interested in here about it. later dave

I think by the time you are done, we may be justified in describing velocity in terms of sub-sonic Mach number

I think that with a proper prop selection 200+ shouldn't be a biggy... but the key factor will be prop selection... you will not find the right props on a shelf somewhere!
You've got the power on the front of that plane, but it is going to take some tweaking to get the right traction.

Rudeboy,
The single dust was in the 200 range with an apc 8.8x9.0 prop.I tried stepping up,but it wasn't hooking up with a 9.75 prop.I spoke at length with Dub,and he seems to feel that the 8.8x9.75's cut down to 8'or so will keep the engines in the powerband.I don't think hooking up will be an issue with two engines,so I'd like to get more pitch(10-12")I see apc has an 8x10 sport prop, but that may be too wide for this application.Trouble is,I don't really have any experience modifying props,so I'm alittle leary.Any advice/suggestions will be appreceated.Dub said I could send him back the motors to have them timed to run 25k,and step down to a 7.5x8.5 carbon prop, but I'm gonna see what I get first. It may be that I won't want to go faster. I can't believe I just said that!!In any case,I'm sure it won't be a slug.
Erik

At this time the first launch will be like what i do with my Monster Dust, with two guys. Maybe after we feel the power just hold it up and let go, we will see. Hopefully we get some video of the first flight.
