Two Jett 50's and a pilot with a attitude, for a pilot who like fast planes.

umm.....

Holy C____ppppppppppppp

With that setup, you will want to run smaller diameter/higher pitch props. Keep the P factor to a minimum and the frontal area down.

You may want to start with the 8.8x9.5 apc racing props, and clip them down to 8" dia.

(I showed the photo to Dub, he said the same thing about the props - smallest diameter you can find/make)

Bob,
I am the lucky recipient of this radical machine.I spoke to Dub about it when I ordered the second engine.Dave makes some kick-butt dusts. The last one he made me ws a clipped wing, all sheeted with a JettFIRE 50.200 mph all day long. We're looking for 250 out of this.I'm stoked!!Here's a pic of the last one.I sent it to you a while back for the gallery. We'll keep you guys posted.Dave made it the same platform as his monster dust, which flies wonderfully.

Looks cool Erik! Can't wait to see it burning up the skys over our field (Buc-le) this summer! Mark and I are both building whiplashes, and I still have my Diamond Dust...although the K&B is pretty much worn out...

In keeping with the gentle/humorous shots flying across the border (I refuse to use smilies) I would like to remind you "Speed" freaks that the fastest model airplane recorded is a GLIDER!!

Ed,
As far as a glider holding the "official"speed record, BFD!! If you don't think jet guys have already broken the 300mph barrier, then you need to crawl out from under your rock. My bud Dave is building me a kick-ass twin dust, and it's gonna haul the mail!! Why don't you go fly your glider and whine on someone else's thread.

Hey Ed,
Let me tell you alittle about myself.I have a B.S. in Aeronautical Science.I've been flying R/C for approx. 30 yrs.I am a turbine waiver holder, and a CD.I can build just fine.My family and my job take up most of my time, and I'm lucky enough to have nice friends to help me.Oh yeah,I also fly jets for a living. In fact I get some layovers in Toronto, and a few other fine Canadian cities. I'm going to end it now. I suggest that you and I discuss this face to face at the first convenient time.
In fact,I will bid a YYZ layover,so we can make that happen. Anytime!!! It is a very little man that needs to make himself feel important by putting down or insulting others. You have shown what kind of person you are,and this will be my last response to you.(Other than in person).I'm pretty sure my twin dust will be a wonderful,FAST airplane.I am sure I will enjoy it immensely. And remember, I'm available for a face to face anytime. Now go kick your dog.
Erik

Erik R,

On one of your posts above you mentioned that you had a sheeted DD. I am about to build my next DD and been thinking about sheeting the wings also. My question is what thickness sheeting was used and was there much of a difference in weight or could you not really tell?

Reason I wanted to do mine was to avoid some of the pin holes during landings that sometimes keep my plane grounded for rest of the day. Also to me I would think that the covering maybe ripples in the air when moving fast. I don't know since I never seen how it looks while moving. But I like the idea of sheeting.

On a lighter note, made some progress today thanks to the snow in the Northeast (i work outside), add the sheer webing, clip the wing so that the wingspan is 36" and the length is 50" also installed some of the top sheeting. If all gos well by the end of the weekend should be ready for covering. later dave

I can tell you my experence with sheeting Dust like planes, if you look at my last post you can see at the joints of the basa sheets Ill glue a strip on the sheet set to attach the next, sometime must trim the out eage to coform with the taper od the wing. Weight is not a essue the glue proplble weighs more the the basa. dave

Looks like good, clean fun to me! Hey, If I was given a choice between a 260 mph glider and a plane with a pair of JETT 50s, I'll take the one with the noisemakers. It sure is childish for some yahoo to chime in here, trying to rain on the parade.....you never know what you'll run into while reading these threads Let's give that guy a big,"OINK" and a nice "parting gift"! Anyway, I wish I could hang out with YOU GUYS , and see some EXTREME PROP PLANAGE like that this summer!!

OK Fellas....let's remember this instruction before we post....

Please resist the urge to curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass someone
in your post. We encourage the free flow of your ideas, but believe that they
can be communicated (and received) much more effectively if you keep things
civil. If you have to vent, take it offline. We carefully monitor posts and will ban
individuals who engage in offensive conduct within the forums.

We are all here for the same reason....to enjoy this hobby and share the fun
we have. Most Guys that have been around for a while know about the glider
record....big whoop.

So let's keep the gloves on....and no dog kicking.

Hotliners are purty cool, but I need the smell of burnt nitro! 2 Jett fire 50's? You are insane and I love it! They counter-rotate?

Imagine the sound of those babies on the same sheet of music!

Keep us posted and PLEASE take video if possible-

Rock on y'all Speed Brothers!

Just of note....

Ive known Ed for a number of years, flying pylon and all. Real nice guy, and an credit to Canada. Endless experience with engines and aircraft design. And he is a fun guy to drink with on occation. As you've noticed, he is not immune to stirring a turd now and then.... and thats part of his charm.

This is all in fun. If you take into consideration that us "pylon" guys spend hours/days/months trying to get a plane from 180 mph to 181 mph on the race course (and personally, I still sometimes get lapped) ..... it can be a bit humerous reviewing some of the 'speed' posts where someone changed a prop and picked up 25 mph (very general example).

Having said that... back to the topic....

I have no doubt this beast Dave and Erik have designed is going to haul some SERIOUS hiney.

Bob
